Arrest made in connection with shooting that wounded Missouri RB Ahmad Hardy

A man was arrested Thursday night in Kentucky on charges stemming from a shooting that injured Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy early Sunday morning at a concert in Laurel, Mississippi.

Sgt. Macon Davis of the Laurel Police Department told the Laurel Leader-Call that 20-year-old Rashodrick Harris had been arrested in Paducah, Kentucky, on two counts of aggravated assault. Hardy was shot while he was in a car leaving the venue, and at least one more person was injured in the shooting. The police department is working to have Harris extradited to Mississippi.

From the Leader-Call:

β€œHe’s going to be extradited one way or the other,” Davis told the paper. β€œIf he fights it all the way, we’d have to end up with a governor’s warrant. But it absolutely will happen.”

Davis said they developed Harris as a suspect after reviewing video of the shooting that showed Harris on the scene. Police were able to capture his tag number from the video, and one of the victims ID’d Harris after being shown a still shot of him.

Harris’ arrest comes after three men had been arrested in connection with the shooting. However, those men have been released and are not expected to face any charges.

Hardy underwent surgery on Sunday after the shooting and returned to Columbia, Missouri, on Wednesday. Missouri said in a statement after the shooting that Hardy’s return to football was β€œunknown.” At an event this week, Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz said β€œthere was an opportunity [Hardy] could be back” in 2026, but that the team β€œwon’t know those answers for a few weeks.”

Hardy was one of the top running backs in the SEC in 2025 and the second-leading rusher in the country. After spending his freshman season at Louisiana-Monroe, Hardy had 1,649 yards and 16 TDs in his first season with the Tigers.
