Samsung clarifies cause of faint noise coming from camera module

3 June 2026 at 16:06

Samsung users are discussing a new issue after installing the One UI 8.5 update. Some people say they started hearing a small sound from the camera area of their phones after updating. The sound is very soft and can mostly be heard in a quiet place.

Galaxy user shared their experience on Samsung’s community forum. They said they updated their phone as soon as they saw the update notification. After using the phone for a short time, they noticed a faint dull sound whenever they opened the Camera app. The user also found that the same sound could be heard when opening photos through the Naver search app.

As the sound appeared after the update, some users thought the software might have caused a problem with the camera. This led to questions and discussions in the community about whether the noise was normal or a sign of an issue.

A Samsung community moderator has replied to the post and explained the reason behind the sound. According to the moderator, the noise comes from a small part inside the camera, an actuator. This part moves the camera lens when the phone is trying to focus on an object, which means in Auto Focus.

Samsung said that the sound is normal and can happen when the camera starts working. Depending on the camera module used in the phone, some devices may make the sound clearer than others. The company added that this is part of the camera’s design and does not mean there is a fault or damage.

Users do not need to worry because the sound is expected during camera operation. However, if anyone feels the noise is unusual or keeps causing concern, they can visit a Samsung Electronics Service Center. For most users, the faint camera noise is simply a normal part of how the camera focuses and works.

Samsung’s latest Camera upgrade is something you’ll hear

3 June 2026 at 10:34

Samsung Camera app in One UI 8.5 has gained something you will hear while using it. The latest update isn’t limited to new features and UI tweaks. It also focuses on minor aspects to bring the photography experience to perfection.

This time, Samsung is making a camera upgrade with One UI 8.5, which has nothing to do with megapixels, zoom capabilities, or AI. Instead, it is targeting something users interact with every time they take a photo: the shutter sound.

After years of covering Samsung, we’ve learned that the best UX improvements are often the ones people don’t immediately notice, yet feel every single day. That’s exactly what Samsung appears to be doing with One UI 8.5.

One UI 8.5 tweaks Samsung Camera shutter sound

One UI 8.5 introduces a completely new shutter sound designed to deliver a more sophisticated shooting experience. The updated sound combines a fast shutter response with deeper bass tones that resemble the feel of a DSLR camera.

The addition of richer bass tones should also help Galaxy devices feel more refined, moving away from the artificial sounds commonly associated with smartphone cameras.

The new shutter sound was developed after considering user feedback regarding the existing camera sound. Samsung worked to reduce the sharpness of the previous audio profile and create something that feels more natural and sophisticated.

This is exactly the kind of detail that demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to Galaxy software refinement. Most users never file feature requests for shutter sounds, yet many notice when something feels slightly off.

At SammyFans, we’ve always appreciated Samsung’s willingness to polish the small things. Those micro-improvements often have the biggest impact on day-to-day usability. That level of attention is what separates good software from great software.
