Samsung starts May 2026 patch rollout, Galaxy A lineup grabs it first

14 May 2026 at 16:36

Samsung Galaxy A55 has started getting the May 2026 security patch. The latest SMR brings crucial security improvements to the device. This release kickstarts the patch’s debut on non-One UI 8.5 Galaxy devices.

GalaxyClub reports that the Galaxy A55 is receiving a new firmware update, which installs the May 2026 security patch. The rollout is currently happening in select European countries, specifically the Netherlands.

Users in the European continent can identify the update via PDA build versionΒ A556BXXSECZDE. The distribution is sequential, meaning that not everyone would have access to the firmware update at the same time.

Galaxy A55 is running the Android 16-based One UI 8.0 software. It’s eligible for the free One UI 8.5 upgrade, which will bring new features and a refined user interface. Flagship models are getting it already, with others joining soon.

Samsung’s May 2026 update patches 39 vulnerabilities across Android and One UI. Among them is a crucial Android CVE item, which patches the vulnerability having potential of transferring shell access to hackers.

You can check for the latest updates manually through Settings > Software update > Download and install.

The stable One UI 8.5 update also carries the April 2026 patch. While the rollout is happening in May 2026, the build was already tested and verified last month.

As the rollout started, Samsung should soon ramp up the pace. The update is likely to reach even more devices, though gradually, over the next couple of days and weeks.
