Samsung launches world’s first 6K gaming monitor Odyssey G8
On May 20, Samsung officially launched the 2026 Odyssey G8 lineup, the world’s first gaming monitors with 6K resolution. This year’s Odyssey monitor portfolio introduces four models; specs differentiate each other.
The new lineup includes:
- The 6K ultra high-resolution Samsung Odyssey G8 (G80HS)
- Odyssey G8 (G80HF) with 5K resolution and up to 180Hz refresh rate
- Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH) with 4K OLED panel and up to 240Hz refresh rate
- Odyssey OLED G7 (G73SH), a 32-inch 4K OLED monitor with Dual Mode support
6K Odyssey G8
Samsung’s 32-inch Odyssey G8 (G80HS) gaming monitor supports 6K (6,144 x 3,456) resolution, delivering highly detailed visuals and immersive gameplay. It features Dual Mode, allowing users to switch between:
- 6K at 165Hz for ultra high-resolution gaming (deal for visually detailed action games)
- 3K at 330Hz for ultra high-refresh-rate gaming (benefits fast-paced FPS and racing games)
The 27-inch Odyssey G8 (G80HF) offers 5K (5,120 x 2,880) resolution and up to 180Hz refresh rate. Through Dual Mode, it can also switch to QHD resolution with up to 360Hz refresh rate for smoother gameplay.
Both monitors feature:
- DisplayPort 2.1
- NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible certification
- AMD FreeSync Premium support
The Korean tech giant is specifically advertising the HDR10+ GAMING technology, which analyzes game scenes and frames to deliver more dynamic HDR visuals.
HDR10+ GAMING works through an HDMI 2.1 connection with NVIDIA and Intel graphics cards, though support may vary depending on PC specifications and cable standards.

Additionally, the company is strengthening its premium gaming monitor portfolio with new OLED models. The Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH) comes in 27-inch and 32-inch sizes, supporting 4K resolution and up to 240Hz refresh rate.
The monitor includes:
- Glare Free coating to reduce reflections
- DisplayPort 2.1
- USB-C charging up to 98W
The adoption of Samsung’s new “QD-OLED Pentile Tandem” technology improves panel energy efficiency, lifespan, and brightness.
Odyssey OLED G8 (32-inch) is certified for VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500, enabling deeper blacks and improved contrast.
Odyssey OLED G7 (32-inch) supports up to 165Hz refresh rate and includes Dual Mode with an optional FHD 330Hz setting.

Samsung announced the following prices in South Korea:
- 32-inch 6K Odyssey G8 (G80HS): KRW 1.89 million (~$1,254)
- 27-inch 5K Odyssey G8 (G80HF): KRW 1.19 million (~$790)
- 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH): KRW 1.75 million (~$1,161)
- 27-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH): KRW 1.55 million (~$1,029)
- 32-inch Odyssey OLED G7 (G73SH): KRW 1.39 million (~$922)
Lee Heon, Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Business, said the new lineup sets a new benchmark for the monitor market through ultra high-resolution technology and OLED innovation, including 6K displays.
