Galaxy S23 Ultra users should check out these new One UI 8.5 features
Samsung’s latest Galaxy S23 Ultra update, which brings One UI 8.5 features, is now available widely. Users have already installed the update, and they continue to explore the changes and features brought in the new version.
One UI 8.5 feels aimed at people who actually use their phones hard every day. Samsung did not go for a dramatic makeover here. Instead, the company cleaned up dozens of smaller frustrations across the interface, AI tools, and system apps.
One UI 8.5 changes and features
Visually, One UI 8.5 looks cleaner without trying too hard to reinvent itself. Samsung added more translucent layers, softer blur effects, and floating panels throughout the interface. Notifications, quick settings, and widgets feel less boxed in now.
Samsung also reworked some of the Galaxy AI experience in ways that feel less gimmicky than before. Photo Assist now lets users move through multiple AI-generated image variations without constantly saving each attempt first.
The One UI 8.5 animations also carry a little more fluidity, especially when jumping between apps or opening multitasking windows. It is subtle stuff, but longtime Galaxy users will notice the difference pretty quickly.

Oddly enough, Samsung Bixby may end up being one of the bigger surprises in this release. Users can speak more naturally, ask follow-up questions, or describe actions casually instead of memorizing exact wording.

Samsung also made previous conversations accessible from the side panel, making it easier to jump back without starting over from scratch. It still is not replacing Google Assistant for everyone overnight, but the gap feels smaller this time.
Outside the headline features, One UI 8.5 adds several practical improvements. Lock screen photos automatically reposition around widgets and clocks, which prevents faces or pets from getting awkwardly covered.
Battery settings finally look less cluttered, too. The updated page presents usage data and remaining battery estimates in a way that is easier to scan quickly. Direct voicemail transcription is another useful addition, especially during meetings.
