Who has won the most Women's T20 World Cup titles? Full list of champions

As England and Australia prepare to meet in the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup final at Lord's, there is no better time to look back at the winners of every edition of the tournament.Β

The very first Women's T20 World Cup was held in England alongside the men's tournament, bringing together eight sides in what quickly became a landmark moment for the women's game.

England, Australia and New Zealand dominated the group stage, with India also making the semi-finals.

The final at Lord's saw England chase down 87 against New Zealand inside 17 overs to claim the title. New Zealand's Aimee Watkins was the tournament's leading run-scorer while England's Holly Colvin finished top of the wicket-taking charts.

Who has won the most women's T20 World Cup titles?

While England won the inaugural World Cup, Australia is the most decorated team in the competition with six titles.

Held in the West Indies, the 2010 edition introduced the world to some future legends of the game, including Stafanie Taylor, Ellyse Perry and Deandra Dottin. Australia beat New Zealand in the final to claim their first title, with Sara McGlashan and Diana David finishing as the standout performers.

Two years later in Sri Lanka, Australia made it back-to-back titles, again defeating England in the final. Charlotte Edwards topped the run charts while Julie Hunter was the leading wicket-taker.

In 2014,Β the tournament expanded to ten teams in Bangladesh, and Australia again met England in the final. Meg Lanning, captaining the side for the first time in this role permanently, guided a dominant chase of 106 in just 15 overs. Lanning finished as the tournament's top run-scorer while Anya Shrubsole led the wicket charts.

India hosted one of the most memorable editions of the tournament in 2016. West Indies produced a stunning upset, beating Australia, with teenager Hayley Matthews and captain Stafanie Taylor putting on a record 120-run opening stand to chase down 148 with three balls to spare. Remarkably, on the same day, the West Indies men also won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

In South Africa in 2023, the hosts reached their first-ever final but could not stop Australia from clinching a sixth title. Laura Wolvaardt was the leading run-scorer, while Sophie Ecclestone topped the wicket-takers list.

The 2024 edition, held in the UAE, produced the biggest shock in the competition's history as New Zealand finally broke through, defeating South Africa by 32 runs to win their first ICC title in 24 years under Sophie Devine, with Melie Kerr named Player of the Tournament.
