A new trade opportunity has arisen elsewhere in the NFL and it would be the perfect kind of move for the Miami Dolphins

The perfect hedge for the Miami Dolphins’ precarious right tackle situation is suddenly staring them right in the face.

The Miami Dolphins‘ offensive line overhaul is well underway this offseason.

First-round draft choice Kadyn Proctor is a far cry stylistically from Cole Strange, a primary starter last season at guard. Jonah Savaiinaea has flipped from left guard to right guard. And for now, the Miami Dolphins have Austin Jackson back in the fray after injuries derailed another season. The team drafted DJ Campbell on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft, too. Things are looking different. But you can never have enough offensive line depth - especially with a starter at right tackle in Jackson whose injury rundown is extensive. And that is putting it mildly.

It makes this evening’s news elsewhere in the NFL a tantalizing option for Miami. Jon-Eric Sullivan should be on the phone with the Kansas City Chiefs first thing in the morning.

The Miami Dolphins should be calling the Kansas City Chiefs after news of a possible Wayna Morris trade

The Chiefs and OT Wanya Morris have agreed to explore trade options, per sources.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler has reported that the Chiefs are going to be shopping around offensive tackle Wanya Morris via trade this summer. Morris, who was a standout right tackle during his final season at Oklahoma in 2022, has struggled to live up to his draft status in three years with the Chiefs. A top-100 draft choice, Morris has endured a number of high-penalty performances. He’s also been credited with 62 pressures on just over 700 career pass blocking attempts.

But for the Miami Dolphins, he’d be a one-year flier who would have a high probability of getting into the lineup at some point. Jackson’s injury history is too consistent to ignore. And, unlike Kansas City, the Dolphins would then be in a position to play him at right tackle. More than 1,000 of Morris’ career snaps with the Chiefs have come on the left side - perhaps a return to right tackle is just what the doctor ordered?

In 2026, Morris will play on the final year of his rookie contract. He’s owed less than $1.5 million in base salary. So with a shaky injury situation at right tackle, a low salary scheduled, and a buy-low opportunity waiting? The question shouldn’t be “should the Dolphins call?”. It should be “why wouldn’t they?”…
