Ever since he tore up the locker room at Oakmont, golf fans have been looking for reasons to dunk on Wyndham Clark. He served up a reason on a silver platter immediately after his Byron Nelson win with one simple comment.

Open some grape? Welcome to Cringe City, USA, folks, where Wyndy C is the mayor. 

Fortunately for Clark, the boys from the well-known Pardon My Take podcast had him on as a guest this week and gave him a chance to redeem himself. Few things are better for image rehabilitation than an appearance on PMT, and Clark did his best to defend his corny phrase. 

"In the moment, I didn't--you know, sometimes I'm like, is this PC to say that we were just going to get absolutely sloshed?" Clark said. 

As both hosts Dan "Big Cat" Katz and PFT Commenter quickly pointed out, yes, that would have 100 percent been better. In Wyndham's defense, that probably would be a bad look, as would "we're going to get f---ed up," at least in the eyes and ears of the masses:

His most salient point? "Would you want to party with me if I said 'let's have some wine'?" No, no we wouldn't. Open some grape is certainly not much better, though. We'll call this a draw.
