Report: Agreement close on Brown transfer from Frankfurt to Munich
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are reportedly close to signing Germany left back Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Bild paper said on Sunday that bith clubs are confident to finalise the deal within the next days as board members for sport Max Eberl of Bayern and Markus Krösche of Frankfurt have agreed on a €55 million ($63.6 million) package.
The report said the clubs must still agree on a base fee and add ons. Frankfurt allegedly originally wanted more than €60 million.
Brown, 22, is to sign a contract until 2031 at Bayern where Canada's Alphonso Davies has been first choice as left back for years but has also been set back by various injuries.
Brown has had a meteoric rise in Frankfurt since joining from second division Nuremberg in 2024 which taken him all the way into the national team.
He has won five Germany caps and has been confirmed as a starter in the team's first World Cup match against Curaçao later on Sunday.
Bayern reportedly plan that Brown undergoes the mandatory medical at the World Cup and the deal is expected to be finalised after the Curaçao match.
Neither Bayern nor Frankfurt have commented on the issue, and Brown has said that "I am fully concentrating on the World Cup."
Former Bayern great Thomas Müller is confident that Brown will be a good addition to the Bayern squad “in terms of quality and potential."
He warned that there is “obviously fierce competition” at Bayern but that "he’s a player who’s certainly interesting. And I think everyone can see that he’s interesting.”
