ESPN is once again commemorating a year in sports with The ESPYS, an awards show that annually celebrates achievements, athletes and moments. The 2026 ESPYS take place on Wednesday night at New York City’s David H. Koch Theater.

Among those in attendance will be a slew of gold medal-winning U.S. women’s hockey players, some of whom weren’t initially invited. With the help of American rapper Flavor Flav, the squad will now be well represented in Lincoln Center, where Team USA is up for the award of “Best Team” after it took down Canada in overtime of the gold medal game, thanks to a game-tying goal from Hilary Knight and a game-winning strike from Megan Keller.

Flav, a Public Enemy legend, tapped into his network to provide additional members of the team access to this year’s ESPYS, plus helped set them up with travel, lodging and hair and makeup.

That story, in the lead-up to a night full of them, is heartwarming in itself.

There’s a lot more to come at an event that raises awareness and money for the V Foundation for Cancer Research, a charity founded in 1993 by ESPN and national title-winning North Carolina State head men’s basketball coach Jim Valvano.

The 2026 ESPYS begin at 8 p.m. ET. Fans can tune in on ABC, in the ESPN App and in the ESPYS streaming hub.

Who’s hosting the ESPYS?

Comedian Marcello Hernández will host this year’s ESPYS. Hernández played soccer at John Carroll University, but many recognize him from "Saturday Night Live,” on which he recently wrapped his fourth season.

Sunny skies? Temperatures in the mid-70s? Winds gusting no more than 10-15 mph?

That all sounds good if you're playing or walking the grounds at Royal Birkdale this week, but these are certainly not the conditions that annualy make the The Open Championship — or British Open on this side of the pond — the most unique major of the year.

TV viewers can only hope the forecasters are wrong, and that wind, rain and brutality make their way north of Liverpool to wreak some havoc on the 154th Open.

Now, let's get to our picks, which are never wrong:

Jay Busbee: Tommy Fleetwood

Total heart pick here. Tommy's got a whole mural painted in his honor at Royal Birkdale, and he's a local lad. That probably puts way too much pressure on him to win, but just suppose Fleetwood wins the Open and then, a couple hours later, England win the World Cup. The entire country wouldn't go to work for a week! Well, unless you work at a pub, then you'd be working for a week. Regardless, this needs to happen. (Head pick: Matt Fitzpatrick, for the record.)

Ryan Young: Rory McIlroy

This isn't really a fun pick. But Scottie Scheffler is off his game after missing a cut for the first time in years, and McIlroy claims to have identified the issue with his swing that was bothering him last week. So why overthink this? McIlroy will end the year with a win in the UK, and then we can all start talking about his potential Masters three-peat even earlier.

Jay Hart: Xander Schauffele

Picking the winner of a golf tournament amounts to a dart throw. Picking a player to finish in the top 10 is a lot easier, especially if you pick Xander Schauffele, who has 10 top-10 finishes in his last 15 majors. That includes a victory at The Open two years ago and a T7 last year. His worst finish in the three majors this year was a T11 a few weeks ago at Shinnecock. I don't know if he will lift the Claret Jug for a second time on Sunday, but it's a safe bet that he'll be in the hunt.

Only the World Cup's heavyweights remain. The semifinals begin Tuesday with the matchup many expected, but few can confidently predict.

France and Spain meet first, with one of the tournament's most complete teams against its most clinical.

Spain has controlled matches, moved the ball with patience and repeatedly found answers late. France has taken a more direct road, leaning on its physical edge, defensive discipline and the brilliance of Kylian Mbappé.

Both have looked like finalists since before the draw in December. Our latest Power Rankings place them at the front of the field, and the bracket has now delivered the matchup many expected. But getting here and getting through are very different things.

Spain will look to dictate the game. France will wait for the moment to break it open. Somewhere between possession and transition, patience and speed, the first place in Sunday's World Cup final will be decided.

History was made at Citizens Bank Park on Monday night when Jordan Walker became the first-ever member of the St. Louis Cardinals to win the Home Run Derby. While the Philadelphia crowd showed its brotherly love attitude toward the Cardinals' young slugger, many were left shell-shocked following his improbable final-round comeback against hometown favorite Kyle Schwarber.

The Home Run Derby is arguably the most fun event of MLB All-Star week, and it has a new sheen to it this year.

Netflix will televise baseball's midsummer show of strength, rather than ESPN, which could add an element of surprise to the proceedings. Just who will show up on screen in between those prodigious swings?

Rather than timed rounds that have dictated the competition for the past 11 years, the Derby will return to a swing-based system in hopes that the participants won't tire out and lose strength as the competition progresses.

Adding to the fun, the Phillies' Kyle Schwarber (the favorite) and Bryce Harper will swing for their home fans in Philadelphia. What if teammates face off for the championship? The Rays' Junior Caminero (last year's runner-up), Yankees’ Ben Rice, Royals' Jac Caglianone, Red Sox’s Willson Contreras, Cardinals' Jordan Walker and White Sox's Munetaka Murakami will also vie for the trophy and $1 million prize.

The 2026 MLB All-Star Weekend has arrived in the City of Brotherly Love, and the host team, the Philadelphia Phillies, is at the center of attention for all the major events. With Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber set to take part in the Home Run Derby and Cristopher Sánchez making the start for the National League on Tuesday, time will tell if anyone will be able to steal the spotlight.

We're down to the final two in the Wimbledon men's singles event, as No. 1 Jannik Sinner takes on No. 2 Alexander Zverev on Sunday in a quest to defend his 2025 title.

Both Sinner and Zverev cruised through the semifinals with straight-set victories over Novak Djokovic and Arthur Fery, respectively. While Sinner won last year’s Wimbledon title over Carlos Alcaraz, he’s looking to rebound after getting bounced from this year’s French Open in the second round. Zverev, meanwhile, picked up his first Grand Slam victory at Roland-Garros weeks ago, with Sinner out of the picture.

Despite Zverev finally breaking through in a Grand Slam, Sinner is the heavy favorite at the All England Lawn Tennis Club at -450, per BetMGM.
