For Thai visitors, it opens a gateway to Varanasi, an ancient city steeped in spiritual history, further boosting the Buddhist travel circuit.

This new route is set to expand Air India Express’ presence in Thailand. The airline already operates flights between Bangkok and Bengaluru, Lucknow, Pune, and Surat, and provides direct connections between Hyderabad and Phuket. The new Varanasi-Bangkok service will add another vital link in its network.

In addition to Varanasi, Air India Express operates flights from Uttar Pradesh’s cities of Ayodhya, Hindon, and Lucknow.

The airline has recently unveiled a revamped cabin experience aboard its Boeing 737-8 aircraft. The updated cabins feature improved seat padding, enhanced armrests, and extra legroom. Each seat is equipped with USB charging ports, and the cabins are fitted with modern amenities like ovens for hot ‘Gourmair’ meals, refreshed interiors, new carpets, and Boeing Sky Interior mood lighting, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. This update reflects the airline’s commitment to delivering a comfortable and enjoyable flying experience.

Air India Express also launched its ‘Tales of India’ initiative, showcasing India’s rich cultural diversity through unique tail arts inspired by regional crafts. Over 50 indigenous art forms from across 25 states, including the iconic Banarasi weave and Chikankari embroidery, are featured on the airline’s new aircraft.

Air India Express is launching non-stop flights from Varanasi to Bangkok starting February 1, 2026, to provide direct access between India’s spiritual hub and Thailand’s top tourist destination. This new service simplifies travel and boosts cultural and economic ties between the two regions.
