Sophie O’Bryan of Apollo was awarded the Midway University/KHSAA Student Athlete of the Year in Bowling recently.

O’Bryan helped the Apollo girls team reach the State Bowling Tournament. She was the Region 1 Singles runner-up and Singles State participant for 2025-2026 finishing 17th. Sophie is the daughter of Jim and Sarah O’Bryan.

O’Bryan was nominated by Apollo coach Kerrie Franklin, and here is part of the nomination letter.

“Sophie embodies Student and Athlete — she cares for her academics just as she does her time on the lanes and excels at both. She sees a future where she moves on to continue her academics and her bowling career and is very goal driven by that.”
