However, a report from The Shields Gazette claims that a player would prefer to join the West Midlands club instead. It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa can wrap up the move in the summer. They could use a quality goalkeeper, especially with Emiliano Martinez being linked with an exit. The South American is expected to depart in the summer, and Trafford could be the ideal replacement.

He has shown his quality with Burnley in the past, and there is no doubt that he is good enough to start for Aston Villa. He could help them improve. Regular football at the West Midlands club could help the goalkeeper fulfil his potential as well.

Kim Min-jae wages could be an issue

The player earns £200,000 a week at the German club, and that could be a major problem for any club looking to secure his signature. It will be interesting to see whether the South Korean is willing to accept modest wages to move to the Premier League.

Dean Jones told TEAMtalk: “Kim Min-jae is being linked with Chelsea and while it is true there has been an element of interest, I’m told the prospect of a transfer is still quite slim.

“I do get the impression Chelsea are more open minded than when they were previously only looking at younger players. There is definitely a chance they look to sign someone with more experience and seniority.

“But at the moment I am told the Kim links are just one of a number of deals they have on their mind for the summer and ultimately they will still be looking for good value.

“From what I understand, Kim is on good money, in the top ten earners at Bayern, and that brings a layer of difficulty too for any potential deal that Chelsea would look at.”

“When we consider what they want to do in the summer, he would be quite a good player to go for because he is the kind of progressive talent they want to invest in.

“We all know they are looking at signing well-established stars from within the Premier League, but they would like to start signing players like this too.

“The fact that he could provide cover in various positions across the side means the stories linking him to United for the summer are worth paying some attention to.”

Man United keen on Alejandro Balde

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United are keeping tabs on his situation, and they are considering an offer of around €40 million for him. They could use more quality and depth at fullback, and Balde would be an excellent long-term investment for them.

He could be the ideal long-term replacement for Luke Shaw at Old Trafford. If Manchester United can sign him for €40 million, Balde could prove to be a shrewd investment for them. He has the potential to become a top-class player, and Manchester United would do well to sign him.

Manchester United have done well to groom young players, and they could help regain his confidence. Balde could justify the investment in future. He was a target under Ruben Amorim as well.

A move to the Premier League could be ideal for the young defender. He will aim to establish himself as an important player for the Red Devils and contribute on both ends of the pitch. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can get the deal across the line.

They have shown great improvement in recent weeks, but they need more quality in order to compete with elite clubs. They need to improve multiple areas of the squad in the summer, and signing a quality left-back will certainly be one of their priorities.

Arsenal could use Nico Williams

Arsenal need more quality on the flanks, and the 23-year-old would be the ideal acquisition for them. However, his release clause is quite high, and Arsenal will want to sign him for a more reasonable fee.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Arsenal need more cutting-edge in the final third if they want to fight for major trophies. Meanwhile, Williams will look to fight for trophies and joining one of the biggest clubs in the world would be ideal for him. Arsenal have a tremendous team, and they are fighting for the league title and the UEFA Champions League. They will be an attractive destination for the attacker.

Williams is entering the peak years of his career, and this is the right time for him to join an elite club. Arsenal could be the ideal step in his career right now.

Meanwhile, Leandro Trossard has been linked with a move away from the club, and Gabriel Martinelli has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot. Williams could prove to be an upgrade on both players.

“It’s just not happening..”: Journalist feels 26-year-old’s time is up at Leeds United

19 February 2026 at 01:00

Joel Piroe has been linked with a move away from Leeds United in recent months.

He was linked with an exit in January, but a move did not materialise. It seems that he could be on the move at the end of the season. He has struggled to secure regular opportunities at the Premier League club, and he needs to leave to play more often.

Joel Piroe needs a fresh start

The 26-year-old is at the peak of his career, and sitting on the bench at Leeds United will not benefit him.

Journalist Graham Smyth believes that his time is up at Elland Road, and the English club is likely to cash in on him. It will be interesting to see whether he can join a club that offers regular opportunities.

He has shown his qualities with Leeds United in the past, and there is no doubt that he could be a very useful player in the right team.

“It’s just not happening for Joel Piroe,” Smyth said on the Square Ball podcast.

“You can talk about rustiness all you like, but the entire stadium at St. Andrew’s sensed that the ball needed to go to Calvert-Lewin earlier than it did, and he just hung on that fraction too long.

“He dwelt on it a little bit longer, which is a shame because we have seen him thread passes and cut defences open.

“It’s just not happening for him.”

Meanwhile, Leeds United should look to add more quality and depth to the attacking unit. They need a reliable finisher who can find the back of the net regularly. They have been overly dependent on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

They are looking to establish themselves as Premier League regulars, and they need more quality and depth in that area of the pitch to compete at the highest level.

Can Villa afford to lose Lucas Digne?

Digne has been very useful to Aston Villa and is a key player for them. He has a contract with them until 2028, and it will be interesting to see if the English club is willing to sanction his departure. They are pushing for Champions League qualification, and they will look to fight for trophies next season. They cannot afford to sell an experienced player like him.

Lille might have to make an attractive offer to convince them. Digne has been a reliable performer in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that he would be an excellent acquisition for the French outfit as well. He has the quality and the experience to help them improve. He knows the club well from his previous spell with them, and he could make an immediate impact.

Report: £20m Newcastle ace wants to play for La Liga club next season

19 February 2026 at 00:30

Newcastle United goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

A report via SportWitness claims the 31-year-old is looking to force a move away from the club in the summer.

Vlachodimos wants out

The 31-year-old Greek international has struggled for gametime since he joined Newcastle from Nottingham Forest in 2024. Newcastle paid £20 million to sign the goalkeeper, but he is not a key part of their plans anymore. He needs to leave the club in order to play more often.

The goalkeeper joined Sevilla on loan last summer, and he has been a key player for them. The player is now looking to join the Spanish club permanently when his loan deal ends. His representatives are currently pushing for a permanent exit, and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle are prepared to sanction the departure.

He is a quality player, and he showed that during his time at Nottingham Forest as well. He will be looking to play regularly, and Sevilla seems like the ideal place for him right now.

Newcastle must sell Odysseas Vlachodimos

Newcastle are unlikely to recoup the £20 million they paid for him, and they will have to accept a loss on their investment. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Newcastle already have Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale at their disposal. It does not make sense for them to hold onto the Greek International against his wishes. They should look to cash in on the player while he still retains some value. Sitting on the bench will only cause his value to plummet further.

It will be interesting to see whether Sevilla is willing to make an offer to sign him in the summer. He could prove to be a very useful player for them in the long run.
