Samsung has added a new 24MP photo mode to the Galaxy S26 series. However, this mode is hidden and doesn’t appear in the regular Camera app. It sits between the standard 12MP and 50MP modes, which offer a balance of speed and detail.

The 24MP mode uses Samsung’s AI Fusion technology. It captures details close to 50MP shots while also using multi-frame processing like the 12MP mode. This means the camera takes multiple photos at different exposures and merges them into one clear, bright picture.

The new mode is faster to process than 50MP photos but gives more detail than 12MP. It is for people who want high-quality images without waiting for a long processing time. Mainly, it combines the best of both existing modes.

Samsung phones often use lower-resolution default modes. Pixel binning combines multiple pixels into “super pixels” to make brighter and sharper photos. This helps reduce blur and makes images faster to save, especially when shooting handheld.

To use the 24MP mode, you need Samsung’s Camera Assistant app. Download it from the Galaxy Store, then go to Photos >> Advanced resolution options and enable the 24MP setting.

Right now, the feature is only on the Galaxy S26 series. But older Samsung phones with similar cameras could get it in a future update, possibly with One UI 8.5. For users who want sharper, faster photos, the hidden 24MP mode is a useful addition.
