Alex Pereira vacates UFC light heavyweight title; Jiri Prochazka vs. Carlos Ulberg fight set to decide new champion

Alex Pereira shows no signs of slowing down in his pursuit of greatness. Less than 5 years into his UFC career, Pereira has the chance to become the first three-division world champion in company history after the reveal of his light heavyweight title vacation.

In his absence from the 205 lbs division, 'Poatan' will witness a new champion be crowned. Following the announcement of his move away from the weight class, Jiri Prochazka vs. Carlos Ulberg was confirmed to take center stage at UFC 327 for the vacant strap.

Prochazka and Ulberg are the most deserving and would undoubtedly put on a striking spectacle for fans to sink their teeth into. The Czech is riding a two-fight win streak heading into the bout, with his only losses in over a decade coming against former champion Alex Pereira.

His opponent, Carlos Ulberg, has been a problem in the UFC after a shaky start to his career inside the octagon. Winning nine straight, with six of those victories ending in stoppage, 'Black Jag' has announced himself as a true threat in the division. The pair will collide in the main event of UFC 327, live from the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, on April 11.

However, despite fans being treated to one of the most fun light heavyweight fights possible, all eyes are on Alex Pereira's move away from the weight class. If the persistent rumors are to be believed, Pereira could be in for a shot at heavyweight gold, with some suggesting a spot on the coveted UFC White House card a real possibility.

Heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall remains sidelined following the incident at UFC 321 and subsequent eye surgery. In his stead, one of Jon Jones or Ciryl Gane is considered the South American's most likely opponent should all go to plan.
