Gary Woodland will be the fan favorite on Sunday at MemorialPark as he tries to close out his first win since the 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach.

Woodland will enter Sunday at the Texas Children’s Houston Open with a one-shot lead over Nicolai Hojgaard. Defending champion Min Woo Lee and Michael Thorbjornsen are tied for third but will begin Sunday’s final round six shots back of Woodland and five behind Hojgaard.

Jason Day and Sam Stevens are tied for fifth at 11 under, seven shots back of Woodland.

Sunday’s final round at Memorial Park is set up to be a duel between Woodland and Hojgaard, with several chasers hoping to post a number and take advantage of a Sunday meltdown, which has been a common occurrence on the PGA Tour over the last month.

For Woodland, who has been battling PTSD since his brain surgery in 2023, the key will be to stay calm and try to ride the boisterous fan support to a monumental win.

“There’s no doubt, and I feed off that,” Woodland said on Friday of the fan support at Memorial Park. “This, as much as any week, I feel like I’ve had a lot of support. Kind of feel like I’m playing at home. The fans have been amazing. I kind of need that energy to help me through the day, that definitely helps. That’s something hopefully I can ride on this weekend as well.”

After firing a third-round 65, Woodland looked ahead to the final 18 holes and what could lie at the end of the road if he can best Hojgaard on Sunday.

“I’ve just got to take a deep breath,” Woodland said Saturday. “I’ll have a good night ahead of me tonight to recover and rest, and tomorrow just don’t get ahead of yourself. I’m here, I put myself in this position for a reason, so take a deep breath and maintain what I’m doing.”

A win on Sunday will also come with a $1.782 million winner’s check. The 2026 Texas Children’s Houston Open has a total purse of $9.9 million.

The 2026 Texas Children's Houston Open kicks off Saturday morning with the third round at Memorial Park GC in Houston. Here's everything you need to know to watch the event on Saturday, including full Texas Children's Houston Open TV coverage, streaming details and Round 3 tee times.

How to watch Texas Children's Houston Open on Saturday

Gary Woodland has a three-shot lead heading into Saturday's third round at the Texas Children's Houston Open, and it's hard to draw it up much better than the way he's done it so far. Back-to-back rounds of 64 and 63 have him pacing the field at 13-under, with Friday's 63 standing as his lowest round in more than a year and pushing him to a career-best 36-hole total on Tour.

There's also a layer of unfinished business. Woodland was runner-up here a year ago, and once again finds himself in a familiar spot with the weekend ahead. This time he has a chance to finish the job.

Even with that opportunity in front of him, Woodland isn't getting ahead of himself.

"We're a long ways from that, 36 holes left. I'm proud of myself for the way I played," he said after Friday's round, "Continue to do what I've been doing and then we'll see where we're at at the end."

You can watch the third round of the Texas Children's Houston Open on TV via Golf Channel beginning on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the NBC broadcast at 3 p.m. ET.
