Toosii is taking an unconventional path from the music charts to the gridiron, officially joining the LSU Tigers football program as a freshman wide receiver.

The 26-year-old artist, born Nau’Jour Grainger, is now listed on LSU’s 2026 roster ahead of spring practices, an unexpected development in a sport where recruiting surprises are increasingly rare. Known for hits like "Favorite Song," Grainger is stepping away from his multi-Platinum music career to pursue Division I football.

His journey to Baton Rouge has been anything but typical. In December, Toosii made headlines after announcing a commitment to Syracuse despite having no college football experience. Just weeks later, he instead enrolled at LSU, where he is now part of a rapidly reshaped roster under head coach Lane Kiffin.

Toosii has been documenting his transition, recently posting a video of himself training inside LSU’s practice facility with the caption, “this what they don’t see.” His football ambitions date back to last summer, when he publicly declared his goal of becoming the first multi-platinum artist to return to school and play Division I football.

“I’m chasing history,” he wrote at the time, sharing footage of himself working out at NC State. “Next year I’m gonna be on somebody’s team—mark my words!”

His addition comes during a major overhaul for LSU, which has brought in dozens of new players through recruiting and the transfer portal as the program looks to reestablish itself as a national contender.
