Athletes,Β
In 48 years, the Cap 10K has faced its share of race day challenges β including severe weather. This year is no different, and our team is on it.Β
Statesman meteorologist Mary Wasson is actively tracking the forecast. As of today, she is predicting a 15% chance of severe weather at race start β 8:00 AM, first wave β this Sunday morning. The current storm track shows the bulk of weather northwest of Austin, moving northeast toward Waco and Dallas.Β
Here's what you need to know about our weather policy:Β
The Cap 10K runs in all conditions β except lightning. If a lightning strike occurs within 10 miles of the race location, our safety protocol requires a mandatory 30-minute delay. We will use every resource available to monitor conditions and keep you informed in real time.Β
We will post updates daily leading up to race day across our social channels, via email and at Statesman.com and cap10k.com. On race morning, check those same platforms for the latest information before you head to the start line.Β
Our priority is always runner safety. It has been for 48 years, and Sunday is no exception.Β
Let's race #49Β
