The Texas Tech Athletics Department has made a stunning announcement about quarterback Brendan Sorsby on Monday.

According to a press release, the Texas Tech Athletics Department has announced that Sorsby will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the program.

The reason for his leave of absence? Sorsby will seek treatment for a gambling addiction.

β€œThe Texas Tech Athletics Department and Brendan Sorsby announced today that Sorsby will take an immediate indefinite leave of absence from the football program to enter a residential treatment program for a gambling addiction,” the press release stated.

β€œWe love Brendan and support his decision to seek professional help,” Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire said. β€œTaking this step requires courage, and our primary focus is on him as a person. Our program is behind Brendan as he prioritizes his health.”
