The Oklahoma Sooners have the No. 1 class in the 2027 recruiting cycle and are among the schools a top recruit in 2028 is interested in.

The Oklahoma Sooners have the No. 1 recruiting class in 2027 and are trying to do the same in 2028. To start their 2027 recruiting class, the Oklahoma Sooners primarily focused on offensive line. Cooper Hackett and Kaeden Penny were two of their first commits, and it's worked out well. They have the No. 1 class in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

In the 2026 class, they focused on guys like Noah Best and Deacon Schmitt early. Michael Fasusi wasn't the first commit, but he was early and helped build momentum. While they don't yet have a commitment for the 2028 recruiting class, it feels like there's already an early emphasis on the offensive line. Earlier this week, the Sooners sent out an offer to an offensive lineman in the 2028 recruiting class.

Where should Elite 2028 OT Austin Attalah go πŸ€”?⁰

According to Hayes Fawcett, 2028 OT Austin Attalah, the 6'7, 305-pounder from San Bernardino, California, who is ranked as the No. 11 Recruit in the 2028 Rivals300, has interest in a ton of schools. The Sooners are one of them, and are actually the first logo on the graphic. Sure, that probably doesn't matter, but we can pretend it does. Actually, right now, Rivals has USC and UCLA as the two teams to watch the closest, and that's likely because of him being an LA area kid.

But, they do have a shot at landing him, especially considering a recent trend or two.

Sooners could follow another recent recruiting trend

Seven players total in the Sooners' 2026 class, and those committed to the 2027 class are from California or the LA area. OU has been recruiting extremely well there, so Attalah isn't a recruit who is out of their territory or anything like that. Oklahoma is a global brand.

Sure, OU primarily recruits in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and even Florida. However, they recruit good football players. If they like you and you're good, they will recruit you. You could be in Alaska for all they care. You’d better know they will push hard for Attalah.
