Price hike fear driving demand for Galaxy S26 series

12 July 2026 at 13:56

Consumer electronics price hike fear is looming across the world, and the same reason is now driving the demand for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series.

According to the Korean media, Samsung is producing 1.5 million additional units of the Galaxy S26, which has exceeded the previous forecast for July. Customers doubt that the Galaxy S27 series, releasing next year, could get a price hike due to the rising memory prices.

The new production plan adds up to 50% of what it originally decided for the current month for domestic and global markets. That’s not it; Samsung may add more volume to the production if the demand climbs.

On top of that, Samsung is also running special promo campaigns in the home ground to promote the latest devices. These are also contributing to this increased interest. Still, the price hike fear is real, and it’s showing effect among consumers.

DRAM crisis:

The semiconductor industry is cashing in on its resources during the generative AI era, and memory makers such as Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron have taken the central role in this price hike conversation.

These companies are putting more of their memory shipments to large AI firms, and reducing the DRAM production share for consumer devices. As a result, they not only created a supply issue but also increased the prices of the available memory chips.

Despite being part of the same group, Samsung’s mobile division isn’t getting any special offer on the memory prices. Therefore, it has to buy DRAM and NAND at the same prices as Apple and other memory makers.

To sustain its gross margin in each device, Samsung must increase the prices or bear the loss. The second option is very difficult. So, increasing the price remains the only way. For now, the Galaxy S26 series price remains unchanged, but there’s no certainty on what may come next.

Samsung wants 50% more Galaxy S26 phones built this month

9 July 2026 at 09:55

Samsung will launch new foldable phones this month, but the Galaxy S26 series is seeing an unexpected production boost. The company wants 50 percent more flagships built this month than originally planned.

According to ETNews, Samsung asked its supply chain partners to ramp up Galaxy S26 production by 50 percent this month. The company initially planned 1 million units for July 2026, but the volume is revised to 1.5 million.

Galaxy S26 production increase in Unpacked month

Samsung scheduled the next Unpacked for July 22, happening in London. The company will unveil three foldable phones and two smartwatches. Android 17-based One UI 9 will also be showcased alongside Agentic AI advancements.

Galaxy S26 series getting production boost this month, that too by 50 percent, isn’t random. The current flagships are gaining more sales as consumers assume the Galaxy S27 series will be pricier due to memory price hikes.

The report points out that the sales of the Galaxy S26 series were impressive in June 2026. Seeing the future potential of sales, the company is already taking measures to maintain a stable supply.

Another reason pushing the Galaxy S26 series sales is Samsung’s promotion. The Korean tech giant has just wrapped up a 20 percent discount coupon promo in South Korea.

Additionally, Samsung’s key markets, including India and the United States, will soon be having some incredible seasonal sales, which would keep the flagships in demand.

Galaxy S26 Ultra debuted Samsung’s Privacy Display technology. This solution is rumored to be applied across all four models, including the Pro model, of the Galaxy S27 lineup.

7 July 2026 at 17:31

Samsung Galaxy S26 series reached a milestone of 3 million sales in South Korea. The company’s latest flagship phones outclassed their predecessors, hitting the prestigious mark in a record 117 days from launch.

According to Yonhap, Samsung Galaxy S26 series Korea sales hit 3 million as of July 6, 2026. The pace of hitting this milestone was faster than the Galaxy S25 series. This is despite a price hike across the new flagship models.

In particular, the Galaxy S26 series took 117 days to reach this milestone following the official launch on March 11 of this year. Counting the launch day as Day 1, the series exceeded 3 million units sold on the 118th day.

For context, the Galaxy S25 series, which went on sale in February 2025, reached 3 million sales in South Korea in early August.

Samsung flagged 1.35 million units during preorders in Korea, which ran for seven days from February 27 to March 5. The previous record was held by the Galaxy S25 series, which recorded 1.3 million units during an 11-day pre-order period.

According to June export and import trends recently released by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, exports of wireless communication devices reached $1.55 billion, a 51.9% increase compared to the same month last year.

The Ministry explained, β€œWe saw a double-digit year-on-year increase driven by robust sales of the AI-enhanced Galaxy S26 series.”
