Samsung is reportedly reserving its latest display technology for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 phones. The company yesterday introduced Flex Titanium foldable display tech, but a new report suggests the Galaxy Z Flip 8 might be missing it.

According to NewsPim, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 doesn’t feature Flex Titanium display. The new solution appears to be limited to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, a massive letdown for the clamshell foldable fans.

Samsung’s Flex Titanium display technology

Flex Titanium uses a dual-layer structure that places a titanium alloy film beneath the OLED panel while also incorporating titanium into the supporting display plate.

Samsung claims the titanium alloy offers around 20 times the rigidity of conventional polymer materials. The result is a display that is more resistant to deformation while also becoming thinner.

The upgraded panel structure of the screen, combined with new organic display materials, is also expected to deliver better image quality and improved power efficiency.

The Fold and Flip use very different hinge mechanisms and display assemblies, so Samsung may have chosen to validate the technology on one product family before expanding it further.

Samsung officially scheduled the launch of its new foldable phones, but a new leak has just revealed the weight and thinnest point dimensions of the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8.

Leaker IceUniverse revealed that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 measures 6.1 mm and weighs 180 grams. At first glance, this leak looks to be contradicting the previous inputs, but it’s not the case.

Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to be 6.1 mm thick at its thinnest point. The effective thickness, including the camera bump, could take it to the 6.6 mm range when unfolded. Folding the device doubles the thickness to 13.2 mm.
