Kimi Antonelli lost the race lead due to an as-yet unidentified technical issue and was forced to pit. He rejoined the track but was lapping significantly slower.

Shortly afterwards, the Italian was forced to concede several positions after reporting a broken suspension over radio. Mercedes later confirmed that the issue was caused by a front-left wheel shield failure.

Ferrari inherited a one-two, with Leclerc leading Hamilton, while Max Verstappen moved up to third and Russell inherited fourth place.
