Huawei's new folding patent reveals the next stage of smartphone development. Horizontally folding tri-fold smartphones are already a reality, but Huawei now hopes to introduce a vertically folding tri-fold device. Basically, a Galaxy Z Flip that folds twice instead of just in the middle.

In collaboration with Google, the University of San Diego plans to build a data center using 2,000 old Pixel smartphones. This is intended to demonstrate that old cell phones can be put to good use instead of being stored in drawers.
