(PR) Omdia: US PC Shipments Fell 7.0% in 1Q26, Marking Steepest Decline Since 2023

1 July 2026 at 01:32
The latest research from Omdia shows that US PC shipments (excluding tablets) fell 7.0% year-over-year in Q1 2026 to 15.8 million units, the largest annual decline since Q3 2023. The downturn reflects component supply constraints and cost pressures from surging PC memory and storage prices, compounded by a demand hangover following the Windows 11 refresh cycle, which had exhaust much of the near-term commercial pipeline. The comparison was also affected by a strong Q1 2025, when tariff-related inventory pull-forward inflated shipments, as well as modest channel stocking in Q1 2026 ahead of anticipated memory price increases.

US PC shipments impacted by component supply constraints
With DRAM and NAND supply increasingly diverted to AI server applications, rising component costs are eroding vendor margins on entry-level devices, making low-priced PCs increasingly unviable. Shipments of PCs priced under $500 declined 18.7% year-on-year in the quarter. Omdia expects industry-wide declines to continue throughout the remainder of 2026 as supply tightness persists, with full-year US PC shipments forecast to decline 14.4% compared to 2025.

(PR) AMD Versal Premium Gen 2 Memory on Package SoCs Integrates up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X

30 June 2026 at 14:05
AMD today announced the AMD Versal Premium Gen 2 Memory on Package (MoP) adaptive system-on-chips (SoCs). The MoP architecture integrates up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X into a single package, delivering up to 288 GB/s of bandwidth in up to 60% less board area, letting engineers build high-bandwidth systems without the risk and time of board-level memory design. As physical AI, networking, and aerospace and defense workloads push more data through ever-tighter space and power budgets, MoP targets the designs that need it most: test and measurement, professional video editing, and VPX systems for secure communications and defense acceleration.

"For years, system architects had to choose between the memory bandwidth they wanted and the space, power and longevity their programs could actually live with. Memory on Package removes that tradeoff. Our customers can design for the system they want to build, not the one their memory constraints allow, and bring it to market faster."—Sumit Shah, head of product management and marketing, Adaptive and Embedded Computing Group, AMD

With the 25G4ZR, AOC GAMING brings this competitive format to the accessible G4 line-up, allowing more players to game in the screen size trusted by esports professionals.

(PR) Lian Li Unveils B4-mATX Dual-Orientation 21.3L Chassis

26 June 2026 at 22:43
LIAN LI Industrial Co. Ltd., a leading provider of PC cases, cooling, and power supplies, announces the B4-mATX, a 21.3-liter small form factor chassis co-developed with DAN Cases. Designed to deliver strong hardware compatibility in a compact layout, the B4-mATX supports microATX motherboards, GPUs up to 358 mm, and both ATX and SFX power supplies. The chassis can be positioned horizontally as a desktop unit or rotated 90 degrees into a vertical tower that occupies 30% less desk space. With multiple front-panel finishes, mesh or real wood, in black or white, the B4-mATX suits both performance and lifestyle builds.

One Chassis—Two Orientations
When placed horizontally, the B4-mATX sits as a compact desktop unit. When rotated to a vertical orientation, it occupies 30% less desk space. A rotatable AC inlet adapts to both layouts—rotated outward for easier cable access, or inward in vertical mode to absorb excess cable length inside the chassis. A swiveling cable bracket below the PCIe slots keeps rear I/O and power cables flush against the case in vertical mode, with total clearance including connectors up to 52 mm tall. Front-panel options include perforated mesh for direct intake or a real wood finish (walnut or beech) for lifestyle aesthetics, with both finishes available in black or white.

Framework Switches to ADATA XPG MARS 970 SSDs, Warns of Upcoming CPU Price Hike

25 June 2026 at 22:39
Framework has updated its Laptop 13 Pro pre-order page with a notable storage change and a pricing heads-up worth noting. On the good news side, Framework has switched the Gen 5 SSD option to the ADATA XPG MARS 970, which it says offers better performance, efficiency, and long-term reliability at a lower cost than the previously qualified drive. Existing pre-orders with a Gen 5 SSD selected will be automatically switched over and repriced. The new options come in 1 TB and 2 TB, and the 1 TB now costs less than the old 500 GB option. Anyone who had ordered the 500 GB will be pushed up to the 1 TB option at the lower price automatically. If PCIe Gen 5 SSD storage is not necessary, Framework also offers cheaper options based on the Sandisk SN7100 and 850X PCIe 4.0 SSDs.

The less welcome update is on CPU pricing. Framework says it has received signals that processor costs are likely to increase soon. The company expects to adjust the overall Framework Laptop 13 Pro system price for new orders in the coming weeks. Existing pre-orders are not mentioned as being affected, but anyone wishing to make an order is advised to make a decision while current pricing holds. Pre-orders remain fully refundable before shipment if you change your mind. At this point, we don't know if the CPU price increase affects only Framework or if it's a sign of a larger mainstream trend coming from both Intel and AMD.
