Packers linked to blockbuster trade for 7,250-yard running back as Josh Jacobs insurance

The Packers may need to put together both contingency plans on Josh Jacobs not being available, and add reliable veteran depth behind the star running back, amid allegations of Domestic Violence.

Jacobs was released from prison, pending the results of an ongoing investigation into an incident that led to his arrest back on May 26, but the Packers aren’t exactly teeming with depth behind the former rushing champion, either.

Could the Packers be ideal Alvin Kamara fit?

Over at ESPN, NFL insider Dan Graziano put together a potential list of perfect trade fits, including linking Green Bay to adding New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara.

“The Saints’ beloved veteran turns 31 in July and posted career lows in touches (164) and scrimmage yards (657) in 2025,” Graziano writes for ESPN. “New Orleans doled out big money to Travis Etienne Jr. in free agency and has a crowded RB room that also includes Kendre Miller, Audric Estime and Ty Chandler. Kamara has one year left on his contract, which has been amended so many times it’s difficult to truly assess the size of the dead money burden New Orleans will take on whenever he’s gone.

“It’s hard to see a team offering too much for Kamara at this point in his career. But if he lands in the right kind of backfield and the right kind of role, he could have a chance to go out with a bang. Maybe a place such as Cincinnati or Green Bay has a way to use him to help the offense.”

If the Packers can pry Kamara away in exchange for a late-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, it would be a no-brainer for head coach Matt LaFleur and Green Bay.

While Kamara’s production has dipped in recent seasons, his track record of explosiveness and versatility as a threat in the passing game out of the backfield are worth taking a late-round flier on to bolster quarterback Jordan Love’s supporting cast.

Green Bay Packers: Micah Parsons reveals ACL surgery was not the only procedure he had done, updates return timeline

When the Green Bay Packers first acquired Micah Parsons via trade ahead of the 2025 NFL season, it created a high level of expectations for the defensive side of the ball. After all, Parsons had been an All-Pro at his position, and was again last year in his first season with the Packers. However, the rest of the pass rush around him failed to step up.

This was especially true when Parsons went down with a torn ACL late in the year. With him shelved, Green Bay could not generate consistent pressure on the quarterback. Former Pro Bowler Rashan Gary didn’t record a single sack in the final 10 games of the season, prompting the Packers to trade him to Dallas this off-season.

As the 2026 season nears, the hope is that Green Bay will have an improved pass rush this year. But Parsons is not going to be ready for the start of the year.

Green Bay Packers All-Pro Micah Parsons had his meniscus repaired as well

Parsons is present in Green Bay as organized team activities (OTA’s) are underway. However, he is not practicing. Rather, he is working out with the rehab group as he continues to come back from his knee injury.

On Wednesday, he talked to reporters for the first time since returning to Green Bay, and revealed that he also had some work done on his meniscus while getting his ACL repaired:

In addition to repairing his ACL, Micah Parsons said he also had a procedure to “clean up” his meniscus. He says it’s a hard 9-month rule before he even considers coming back, prioritizing longevity of his career. So mid-October circled on the calendar.

He also said, “We have a pretty strong 9-month rule. It’s just all about just do the research and the data. There’s no good outcomes with players coming back early from an ACL, especially if you’re having other things getting fixed up.”

But there’s also this, “The goal has always been not right now, but longevity with my career here.” Emphasis on here, being Green Bay. Parsons also said he is extremely happy with how well his rehab is going.

So taking a look at the timeline, the All-Pro said he is on a strict nine-month rule. The surgery took place on December 29. This means that he would be ideally be cleared to return to football activities at or around September 29, which would be in between Weeks Three and Four of the Packers’ schedule. Parsons would need a couple of weeks of practice before returning to game action.

Previously, there was some optimism that he would make his season debut on October 11, which is Green Bay’s Week Five game against the Chicago Bears. However, a more conservative timeline would make his first game Week Six when the Packers host the Cowboys.

This all being said, as Parsons indicated, the goal is to be available for the late season games and NFL Playoffs, and for years beyond 2026. They are not going to rush him back.

Packers teammate fired up about Matthew Golden’s second season to come

Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden’s rookie season flashed some signs of the game-changing speed that Green Bay saw in making him a first-round pick in last spring’s NFL Draft, even if the production was wildly inconsistent.

The former University of Texas speedster was limited to just 29 receptions for 361 yards, and is still in search of his first career touchdown reception.

However, with the Packers in the throes of OTA practices, fellow wide receiver Jayden Reed is fired up by what he’s seen from Golden, so far this spring.

“It’s going to be a huge jump for M.G., man,” Reed told reporters. “You can tell the game is slowing down for him. He’s learned to play much better. You can tell he’s just more comfortable out there.

“I can speak from my point of view. Me going into Year 2, it was way more smooth just even knowing the playbook. So, he’s gaining that confidence and he’s going to be dangerous for this offense.”

After an offseason that saw the Packers trade Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles and allow Romeo Doubs to sign with the New England Patriots as a free agent, the expectation is for Golden to make a major leap as Green Bay’s No. 1 wide receiver this fall.

If Golden can make the kind of strides that Reed and the coaching staff clearly believe he is capable of, he could become one of the most explosive, and vitally important pieces of the Packers’ offense this season, and beyond.
