Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may finally have an answer to Apple Watch Ultra 3’s biggest weakness

Apple Watch Ultra 3 is one of the best rugged smartwatches out there, but the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 might finally have an answer to its battery capacity weakness.

Last month, the BIS certification revealed the battery capacity of the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The company reportedly plans to bring a notable battery boost to its next-generation rugged smartwatch launches this Summer.

Up to 35% bigger battery

Samsung might equip the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 with an 800mAh battery. It is a notable upgrade over the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Apple’s Watch Ultra 3.

The OG Watch Ultra comes with a 590 mAh battery, while Apple’s Watch has a 599mAh battery. Last year, Samsung was merely a few points behind Apple in terms of Ultra Watch battery, but the gap is widening this year.

If the rumored Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 battery rating is accurate, it translates to a massive 34% hike over the Apple Watch and 35% jump over the Galaxy Watch Ultra.

With this battery capacity, Samsung could claim roughly three days of battery life. It would go upward significantly when used in low power mode, which restricts regular health tracking tools from prioritizing battery life.

Apple Watch Ultra is good at battery life, thanks to the software optimization. However, Samsung’s next Watch paired with Wear OS 7 would improve battery performance. It seems Samsung would finally beat Apple in wearable battery life.

Snapdragon Wear Elite is also an upgrade worth paying attention to. Samsung is sidelining its Exynos wearable chip for the Watch Ultra 2 as the smartwatch is officially confirmed to launch with a chipset made by Qualcomm.
