Samsung Camera Assistant in One UI 9 has reportedly added an exclusive Mirror View feature along with other improvements. The official version is set to launch later this month, with Samsung gearing up to introduce its latest software advancements to consumers.

What’s new in  One UI 9 Camera Assistant?

With Camera Assistant in One UI 9, Samsung introduces a new Mirror View feature for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8, while also bringing a camera timeout toggle, an additional minimum shutter speed option, expanded language support, and better compatibility with TILTA wireless lens controllers.

At launch, Samsung will limit the Mirror View feature to the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Fold 8, and Fold 8 Ultra. The company hasn’t shared any details about what the feature actually does, leaving room for speculation until officially announced.

Based on the name alone, Mirror View could change how the camera preview is displayed or mirrored while taking photos or recording videos.

More Camera Assistant improvements

Samsung is also refining several existing tools that many Galaxy users already rely on. One welcome addition is the ability to disable the Camera app’s automatic timeout. Instead of closing after remaining idle for a period of time, the Camera app can stay open until you close it manually.

The company is also expanding the Minimum shutter speed setting that first arrived with Camera Assistant in One UI 8.5. Users can already choose from 1/1000, 1/500, 1/120, and 1/30 second, with the new update adding a 1/60-second option.

The app is also gaining support for additional languages, making Camera Assistant accessible to more users. Samsung is further improving compatibility with TILTA wireless lens controllers, making the accessory easier to use on supported Galaxy devices.

Samsung is refreshing three Good Guardian plugins ahead of the wider One UI 9 rollout. The new software will officially debut on July 22. At present, it is available for Galaxy S26 series users as part of the Open Beta Program.

The Good Guardians plugins, including Battery Guardian, Galaxy App Booster, and Thermal Guardian, come with version number 9.0.07 on One UI 9.

If you’ve Good Guardians installed, open the Galaxy Store and update the app to its latest version. Note that the application isn’t supported in all countries despite offering some literally useful features on Galaxy devices.

Battery and Thermal Guardian modules let you optimize your phone for optimal battery life and minimize overheating concerns. The Galaxy App Booster plugin enhances the overall performance of the apps installed on your device.

Additionally, Good Guardians also bring Battery Tracker, Memory Guardian, and Media File Guardian plugins. They further extend your Samsung phone’s functionality and efficiency to elevate your user experience.

How to get Good Guardians

Good Guardians is a revamped version of the Galaxy Labs suite. It’s like Good Lock: works as a backup and holds various plugins for certain tweaks.

Years after keeping Good Lock to select markets, Samsung has made it a global affair. However, it’s not the case for Good Guardians yet, as the app still awaits worldwide availability.

Well, you can manually install Good Guardians and its plugins on your Galaxy device. While sideloading isn’t recommended, you can try these plugins at your own risk after disabling Auto Blocker.

Samsung Messages app has been discontinued in the US, and Google Messages is the officially preferred switch. Google Messages offers all the great features you need for everyday messaging, along with support for Rich Communication Services (RCS). Still, if you want to rely on the Samsung Messages app, there’s a workaround that keeps it alive for now.

Back in April 2026, Samsung announced that its native Messages app would be discontinued. The app started to notify users in early July, with the deployment happening on July 6, disconnecting the app from the connection.

Samsung recommends Galaxy users get Google Messages from the Play Store and make it the default messaging app. Once done, you will retain all your chats in Google’s app and continue further messaging through it.

Notably, Samsung has started shipping recent flagships without the Samsung Messages app in the US. It includes the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy S26 series, as well as the Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 foldable phones.

Well, it’s not impossible to keep Samsung Messages alive; here’s how:

Samsung Messages app is just disconnected, not banned or revoked. Users can get the app working again on their Galaxy device despite the official discontinuation. However, you will have to use its factory version, which it was shipped with.

Open your phone Settings > Apps > Messages > More Options (three dots) and tap Uninstall Updates.

Once done, open the Galaxy Store > Menu > Updates > Samsung Messages, and uncheck Enable auto-update.

These tweaks will roll back updates you’ve installed over the past time. Unchecking “auto-update” will ensure the Galaxy Store or Play Store won’t trigger an automatic update and stop the functionality of the app again.

The workaround is working as of July 2026, but no guarantee for the future. Also, we recommend that users comply with the official guidelines.

Samsung is preparing a meaningful update for its Voice Recorder app as One UI 9 approaches its official debut.

The upcoming version introduces Cloud transcription for more accurate AI-generated transcripts, recording conversion, a dedicated storage management section, and a couple of interface refinements. The update is currently being tested and is expected to arrive alongside an upcoming One UI 9 Beta release.

What’s new in Samsung Voice Recorder with One UI 9?

While Samsung Voice Recorder already benefits from Galaxy AI capabilities, the upcoming update expands those features in ways that should make it more useful for everyday recording, interviews, meetings, and lectures.

1. The biggest addition is Cloud transcription.

Until now, Voice Recorder generated transcripts exclusively using on-device AI, while cloud processing was limited to creating recording summaries.

With One UI 9, users will be able to upload recordings to Samsung’s servers and generate transcripts using cloud-based AI, which Samsung says delivers better accuracy, as per SamMobile.

2. Another feature under development is recording conversion.

Samsung hasn’t shared many details yet, but the option appears to allow exporting recordings in different audio formats.

Since Voice Recorder currently saves files in the M4A format by default, support for formats such as MP3 or WAV would make sharing recordings with other apps and devices much easier.

3. Dedicated Manage storage section

Samsung is also introducing a dedicated Manage storage section inside the app. It automatically groups recordings into categories like Large recordings, Short recordings, Old recordings, and Spam/scam calls.

4. The interface is receiving a light polish as well.

a. Playing a recording directly from the recordings list will now display an animated waveform instead of the simple progress bar currently shown.

b. The settings page has also been cleaned up, with descriptive text moved below each toggle rather than inside the setting cards, giving the layout a tidier appearance.

The updated Voice Recorder app remains in testing. Samsung is expected to release it within the next couple of weeks, possibly alongside the next One UI 9 Beta.
