Arsenal Fans Celebrate as Gunners’ Set-Piece Strength Sparks Another Victory

I’m glad we scored from a set-piece today. I want to see them cry about our set-piece goals. Two more goals to go. Viktor Gyökeres’ brace incoming. COYG!

The Gunners’ ability to convert from dead-ball situations has become one of their biggest weapons, as reported by SoftFootball, after they recorded their eighth set-piece goal in their latest victory over Burnley to maintain top spot.

This continued efficiency reflects the tactical precision Arsenal have developed under Mikel Arteta and his coaching staff. Players have often credited their structured approach and commitment to detail, with stars like Declan Rice reaffirming in a recent SoftFootball report that the team’s aim is to deliver for Arsenal fans every week. The results seem to show that intent clearly, as set pieces now represent a consistent scoring outlet for the North London side.

Another fan, @Mohamed83350821, called for consistency, saying:

We need to go on a run and win 10 more games in a row to create big gap.

The goal, a powerful close-range header by Viktor Gyökeres, set the tone for yet another confident Arsenal performance. With every precise corner and free-kick delivery, the Gunners continue to silence critics and strengthen their case as genuine title contenders this season.

Conor Bradley: Liverpool Back on Track and Focused on Real Madrid, Man City Tests

Speaking after the match, Bradley said it felt like a much-needed lift for the team. He explained, as shared by Liverpool on their official X account:

He also highlighted the importance of Liverpool’s pressing, crediting the front players for setting the tone. He said:

The press from Hugo and Mo was brilliant. It suits us better when teams try to play out, and we made it work tonight.

Looking ahead, Bradley emphasised recovery and focus as Liverpool prepare for two massive games against Real Madrid and Manchester City. He said:

We have to build on this. It’s only one win, but the confidence is back, and we are ready for what’s next.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Says He Would Not Celebrate If He Scored Against Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold has made it clear that he would not celebrate if he were to score against Liverpool, the club he represented for nearly two decades before joining Real Madrid in the summer of 2025. The English full-back, now 27, is preparing for an emotional return to Anfield in the Champions League.

His comments came as part of a wider media session reflecting on his journey and the love he still holds for his boyhood club, which he once captained. In a recent feature, SoftFootball highlighted how legends like David Beckham have praised Trent’s technical evolution and maturity, comparing him to football’s greats.

Speaking candidly, Alexander-Arnold admitted his affection for Liverpool remains strong despite moving to Spain. He said:

Liverpool is a club I will always love. The memories there will last forever. Whatever way I am received, that is up to the fans.

The defender acknowledged that his transfer was emotionally difficult but added that he fully respects the supporters’ right to respond however they feel. His honesty and calmness reflect the same leadership qualities that earned him respect at Anfield.

Asked directly if he would celebrate a goal against his former side, Alexander-Arnold replied without hesitation. He said in a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account:

If I was to score against Liverpool, I wouldn’t celebrate to be honest.

The statement reinforces his sense of loyalty, consistent with footballers who have shared deep bonds with former clubs. His time at Liverpool brought major honours, including two Premier League titles, a Champions League, and an FA Cup.

Tottenham were second best against Chelsea in London Derby – Thomas Franks claims

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Thomas Frank says his team was second best against Chelsea in the London derby, Softfootball reports.

Joao Pedro scored the only goal of the match as Chelsea ran away with a 1-0 win against Spurs at the London stadium and that left the former Brentford manager disappointed. Tottenham came into the match-day 10 in high spirits after beating Everton 3-0 away from home last weekend but were dealt a huge blow by Chelsea on Saturday evening.

Speaking after the encounter in an interview posted by Tottenham’s official X handle. Frank said:

First and foremost, I think Chelsea performed very well. We were the second-best team today. There’s no two ways about that. It was bad performance. So, we’re frustrated about that in a London derby against Chelsea, a game that means the world to the fans, we’re very irritated about it.

I think we lacked the energy and intensity. We couldn’t match, for whatever reason, Chelsea on the day. I think that was part of it. Then I think the way they solved their high pressure, the way we solved our high pressure, the two solutions, I think they got more in the game than us.

Interestingly, Spurs have lost three out of their five home matches played so far in the premier league and would like to change that the next time they play at home in the premier league against Manchester United on Saturday.

Tottenham are fourth on the premier league table with 17 points after 10 matches and will return to action on Tuesday against Danish side, Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea Coach Maresca rates Moises Caicedo in the same level as Rodri

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca believes Moises Caicedo is in the same level as Rodri and both players can be regarded as ‘two best defensive midfielders in the world,’ Softfootball reports.

Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspurs 1-0 courtesy a goal by Joao Pedro to win the London derby. The Brazilian scored his first goal after six games and it came in the enemy’s ground which made it the sweeter for Blues fans.

However, that goal was created by Moises Caicedo after he robbed Dutch international Micky van de Ven of possession and played it into the path of Pedro and the Brazilian made no mistake with his finish.

In a post-match interview shared by football expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle. Maresca said:

Moises Caicedo is top. Caicedo and (Manchester City midfielder and former Ballon D’Or winner) Rodri are the two best defensive midfielders in the world in my view.

Chelsea are now fifth on the premier league log with 17 points after 10 matches and will return to action in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday when they take-on Qarabag FK.

Arteta was impressed with the victory but what left him more amazed is the connection between his players and the fans. This he revealed in an interview that was shared via Arsenal’s official X handle. He said:

It was great to witness the chemistry, the energy, that connection that we have built with them. Hopefully, we can give them a lot of nice moments because they fully deserve it.

Viktor Gyokeres gave Arsenal the lead in the first half. Although, the Sweden international did not finish the match as he was replaced after 45 minutes with a knock. Declan Rice finished off the opponents with a brilliant header to make it 2-0 and hand the Gunners all three points.

Joao Pedro ends goal drought with derby winner as Chelsea beat Tottenham

Joao Pedro was the hero for Chelsea as they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the London derby as the Blues claimed into the premier league top four, Softfootball reports.

Chelsea lost at home 2-1 to newly promoted Sunderland last weekend and needed to bounce back to winning ways while Spurs had demolished Everton 3-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and were hoping to continue their good form in front of their fans.

The game was cagey and not many chances created throughout the encounter but Chelsea took initiative in the first half as current club player of the month Moises Caicedo robbed Micky van de Ven of the ball and played it into the path of Pedro and the Brazilian made no mistake with his finish. It was Pedro’s first goal after failing to score in six matches for Chelsea.

The FIFA Club World Cup champions pushed to get a second goal but Guglielmo Vicario in goal denied the Blues with fine saves. The game was not brilliant in terms of attacking play as both sides remained tactically cautious for 90 minutes.

Arsenal record eighth set-piece goal as they beat Burnley to maintain top spot

Arsenal are showing title credentials as they beat Burnley 2-0 to maintain top spot in the premier league after match-day 10, Softfootball returns.

The Gunners followed up their win in midweek where they dispatched Brighton 2-0 in the Carabao Cup round of 16. Viktor Gyokeres put the North London club ahead after he slammed in a corner from Declan Rice. It was the eighth set-piece goal by Arsenal in 10 matches so far this season.

They stayed solid at the back as usual and got the second goal at the other end just before half-time when Leandro Trossar’s cross was headed in by Declan Rice to make it 2-0 for Mikel Arteta’s men.

Arsenal celebrated the win with their fans through the club’s official X handle as it gave them a good lead on top of the table as things begins to heat up in the premier league, often regarded as the best in the world.

In a match dominated by the Gunners, Viktor Gyokeres scored his fourth goal for the club since his big money arrival from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon. It was another set-piece goal from the North London club as Gyokeres finished off a corner kick from former West Ham United player, Declan Rice.

Mikel Arteta’s side pushed for the second goal but Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dubravka produced a one-handed save to deny Bukayo Saka and Belgium international Leandro Trossard had an effort cleared off the line.

However, Arsenal eventually got the second goal they wanted through Rice. The England international rose like superman to head home Trossard’s cross and made it 2-0 before half-time.

Arsenal controlled the rest of the encounter and won 2-0 in a convincing manner. The Gummers stay top of the premier league with 25 points after 10 matches while Burnley sit 17th with just 10 points after the same number of matches this season.

Chelsea Seek Redemption in Fierce London Derby Against Tottenham

Chelsea will be aiming to recover when they travel to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. The match could see the Blues move level on points with their London rivals if they can find the right response after last weekend’s shock 2-1 defeat to Sunderland, as reported by Softfootball. Tottenham, who defeated Everton 3-0 in their last Premier League outing, are still struggling to rediscover consistency at home, having gone three league games without a win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has asked for more precision from his attackers despite being one of the league’s highest-scoring teams after nine rounds. Spurs started this round sitting third on the table, and a victory could take them into second position before Bournemouth’s clash with Manchester City on Sunday. Their strong away record has carried them this far, but Frank will surely want his side to turn their home form around sooner rather than later.

Chelsea have been unpredictable under Enzo Maresca this season. They won 4-3 against Wolves in a wild Carabao Cup tie earlier in the week, as reported by Softfootball, but the defensive lapses and poor discipline were clear once again. Maresca criticised Liam Delap’s red card, calling it “stupid and embarrassing,” and said he expects more control from his players. The Italian coach will know this is another big test for his young team.

Recent history, however, favours Chelsea. They have won eight of the last ten competitive meetings against Tottenham since 2021, including last season’s 4-1 victory in north London when Spurs finished with nine men. Tottenham have lost five of their six home games against Chelsea since moving to their new stadium, which might create an extra layer of pressure this weekend.

Team News
Tottenham will play without Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Ben Davies, and Dominic Solanke, while Brennan Johnson hopes to break his poor record against Chelsea. He has never scored nor won against them in seven attempts. Chelsea remain without Cole Palmer, who is still recovering from a groin injury, and Liam Delap is suspended following his red card against Wolves. Levi Colwill, Benoît Badiashile, and Dario Essugo are also unavailable. Maresca confirmed that João Pedro, Enzo Fernández, and Moisés Caicedo are ready to return to action, as shared by Chelsea on their official X account.

Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; James, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella; Fernandez, Caicedo; Neto, Santos, Garnacho; Pedro.

SoftFootball’s Prediction
Tottenham have looked confident on their travels but less so at home. Chelsea’s young squad continues to mix brilliant attacking football with moments of inexperience. The match could be intense, full of energy, and open to surprises. Both teams are expected to score, and it might end level.

Arsenal Eye Fifth Straight Premier League Win as Burnley Seek Another Upset at Turf Moor

Arsenal will look to extend their Premier League winning streak when they travel to Turf Moor on Saturday to face an improving Burnley side. The Gunners, who recently earned their 700th Premier League win in a narrow 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace, are in fine form and top of the table with 22 points from nine matches. Meanwhile, Burnley have hit a bit of rhythm after back-to-back wins against Leeds and Wolves, opening a five-point gap above the relegation zone.

Things are finally looking brighter for the Clarets after a late 95th-minute winner at Molineux. Scott Parker’s side now have the chance to win three straight Premier League games for the first time since April 2022. But they face their biggest test yet against Mikel Arteta’s men, who have not lost away to newly promoted opposition in their last 18 league outings.

Scott Parker (Photo Credit: Burnley official website)
Scott Parker (Photo Credit: Burnley official website)

Parker has urged his players and fans to bring humongous energy to Turf Moor. The Burnley boss praised Arsenal as an exceptional, well-oiled machine but believes his team can make life uncomfortable for the visitors. He said:

We’ll be fearless in our approach. It’s 90 minutes, and anything can happen.

Arsenal, on the other hand, continue to impress under Arteta. With the league’s tightest defence, as they have only three goals conceded, they have shown a perfect balance between composure and aggression. Bukayo Saka has remained central to their title push, recently stating he’s confident Arsenal can finally win the league this season, as reported by Softfootball.

Team News
Scott Parker will be without Jordan Byer, Connor Roberts, and Zeki Amdouni for this crucial home tie. Arsenal remain without captain Martin Ødegaard, who is sidelined with a knee injury. Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba are doubts, while Noni Madueke is still unavailable. Arteta confirmed that both Martinelli and Saliba will be assessed before kickoff in his pre-Burnley press conference shared on the club’s official X account.

Possible Lineups
Burnley (5-3-2): Dubravka; Walker, Laurent, Tuanzebe, Esteve, Hartman; Ugochukwu, Cullen, Florentino; Flemming, Anthony.
Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Raya; Calafiori, Mosquera, Gabriel, Timber; Rice, Zubimendi; Trossard, Eze, Saka; Gyökeres.

Jason Wilcox Discusses Manchester United’s Progress and Focus Ahead of Forest Clash

Manchester United’s Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, shared his thoughts ahead of the team’s Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest, Softfootball reports.

Speaking at Carrington, Wilcox expressed satisfaction with the mood in the camp after three straight wins, noting that the players are learning and improving with every game.

As previously reported by Softfootball, United will be keen to continue their recent momentum and the Red Devils will seek revenge after their last defeat to Forest at the City Ground.

Jason Wilcox (Photo Credit: Manchester United via X)
Jason Wilcox (Photo Credit: Manchester United via X)

Wilcox said, as shared on the club’s official YouTube account:

The approach hasn’t changed. We’re seeing progress in how we play, but we can’t get carried away. It’s been a good run, but it’s an important week ahead.

He praised the work done on the training ground and emphasised that maintaining focus is key as the team prepares for a tough challenge. According to Softfootball, the players’ morale remains high following Bruno Fernandes’ standout performance in the recent win over Brighton.

Watch the video below:

Wilcox also highlighted how new signings like Matheus and Bryan have settled in quickly due to their Premier League experience. For younger talents such as Benji and Senna, he noted their rapid adaptation and hard-working attitude, describing them as good people with quality. The director commended the team’s connection and intensity in training, stating that the group’s unity has been vital to their turnaround.

Reflecting on earlier criticism when results weren’t going United’s way, Wilcox said the team’s improvement in attack has been encouraging. He said, adding that manager Ruben’s structured approach has helped the players build confidence and rhythm:

We’re creating and scoring more goals now.

As the festive period approaches, Wilcox outlined the club’s long-term plan to strengthen and compete at the top level. He mentioned that Manchester United must continue to invest wisely, bringing in players with both talent and the right mentality. He said:

We’re happy with the direction, but there’s always room to improve. Ruben’s not satisfied, neither am I, and that’s the mentality that keeps driving us.

The Red Devils’ recent form, including Harry Maguire’s dramatic winner against Liverpool as reported by Softfootball, has reignited belief among fans. With focus, hard work, and continued progress, Wilcox believes Manchester United are steadily moving toward their goals both on and off the pitch.

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso says his team is raring to go ahead of their La Liga encounter against Valencia on Saturday night. Speaking at Valdebebas, as shared on their official X account, the Spanish tactician stressed the importance of staying alert after recent strong performances. Alonso’s remarks come as Los Blancos prepare for another demanding week featuring two league games and a Champions League fixture. He said:

He showed sincerity and what the club means to him.

When asked about young forward Endrick, Alonso admitted he would like to give the teenager more minutes but hinted that game contexts have limited opportunities. Alonso said:

Despite challenges, Alonso remains upbeat. He said:

The team is full of desire and confidence. We just need to keep this rhythm, stay humble, and face each game with the same seriousness.

Man City Receive Huge Boost as Guardiola Confirms Haaland and Rodri Fitness Updates

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Erling Haaland is fit to face Bournemouth this weekend, while Rodri could also return to the squad as Manchester City aim to bounce back from recent setbacks. The City boss shared the positive news during Friday’s pre-match press conference, easing concerns after the striker missed the midweek Carabao Cup win over Swansea City, as reported by Softfootball.

Guardiola’s update comes at a crucial time following City’s disappointing Premier League defeat to Aston Villa last Sunday, as reported by Softfootball. City host Andoni Iraola’s impressive Bournemouth side at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in a 16:30 (UK) kick-off. Haaland, who suffered a knock late in the loss to Villa, sat out the trip to Swansea but is now ready to lead the line again.

When asked if his No. 9 would feature, Guardiola said he would. Bournemouth come into this fixture second in the Premier League with 18 points from nine games, but City have won all eight previous league meetings at home, scoring 31 goals and conceding just five. While Haaland’s return boosts City’s attack, Guardiola’s cautious optimism around Rodri offers an equally vital lift.

The Spanish midfielder, sidelined with a hamstring strain, has been training partially with the squad after an injury sustained against Brentford earlier this month. His absence has been deeply felt, with City losing 1-0 to Villa during his recovery period. Guardiola admitted Rodri might be available for this weekend, as posted on the club’s official X account.

Rodri (Photo Credit: Manchester City Media)

He said:

I think he’ll be ready to help. I don’t know if from the beginning, but hopefully he can be with us.

Rodri’s comeback marks the latest step in his long recovery journey. The 28-year-old missed eight months after suffering a serious ACL injury against Arsenal in September 2024, only returning to action late last season. He then featured briefly in City’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth in May and started the opening game of this campaign before picking up the latest muscle problem.

If Rodri is not deemed fit enough to start, Nico González or Tijjani Reijnders are expected to fill his role in central midfield, with Mateo Kovacic also pushing for a return after missing the Carabao Cup tie. Guardiola is likely to manage Rodri’s minutes carefully, knowing how crucial his stability and tempo control are to City’s rhythm. His presence, even from the bench, could prove decisive as the champions look to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool.

Guardiola ended his briefing by reiterating the threat Bournemouth pose under Andoni Iraola:

It’s just nine games, but they’re consistent. The team, the manager, the players – a tough opponent, but we know that.

With Haaland back firing and Rodri nearing full fitness, City’s prospects look much brighter heading into a key Premier League weekend.

Pep Guardiola Lauds Antoine Semenyo as Extraordinary Ahead of Man City vs Bournemouth

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has showered praise on Bournemouth’s in-form winger Antoine Semenyo, calling him an extraordinary player ahead of their Premier League showdown. The Spaniard’s remarks, as posted by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account, highlight how far the Ghanaian forward has come this season, emerging as one of the most influential players in the league.

Guardiola’s comments follow a string of impressive displays, including his brace in the 3-1 win over Fulham and another dominant showing in the 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest as reported by Softfootball, as these performances have propelled Bournemouth into the top four. During his pre-match press conference, Guardiola was asked about the threats his side might face, and he didn’t hesitate to single out the Ghanaian international.

Guardiola said:

The way Bournemouth play suits him perfectly. He’s an extraordinary player.

Such open admiration from one of football’s most meticulous tacticians underscores Semenyo’s growing reputation. Guardiola’s acknowledgement adds to the chorus of praise surrounding the winger’s all-round brilliance this season. Semenyo’s rise under Andoni Iraola has been no fluke. The 25-year-old fits perfectly into Bournemouth’s aggressive, high-pressing and counter-attacking style.

His pace, strength, and sharp instincts have been crucial in quick transitions — the kind of moments that unsettle even elite defences. Statistically, Semenyo has been electric this season: six goals, three assists, and direct involvement in 81.8 per cent of Bournemouth’s 11 league goals. He’s also the fastest player in the squad, clocking 34.2 km/h and making 152 sprints — numbers that place him among the Premier League’s elite in intensity and output.

🚨⭐ Pep Guardiola when asked about Semenyo: “He’s very good, absolutely. He’s an extraordinary player”. pic.twitter.com/XXRXIB7QN8

— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) October 31, 2025

What sets him apart is his two-footedness. Out of 17 shots this season, eight came from his right foot, eight from his left, and one from a header. His six goals are split evenly, making him unpredictable in front of goal. He also leads Bournemouth in ball-carry distance (13.7 metres per carry), often launching attacks from deep—a key reason Iraola’s side has scored four goals directly from fast breaks, the most in the league.

Guardiola himself noted that:

Everyone can beat everyone… it’s good for the spectators

Though facing a player like Semenyo in such open games is far from simple. Semenyo’s influence extends beyond club level. His recent form for Ghana has been equally vital in their World Cup qualification push against Cape Verde, where he and Mohammed Kudus have led the Black Stars’ frontline with power and flair.

Transfer interest is growing from top clubs like Manchester United, Newcastle, Chelsea, and Tottenham, but the forward remains grounded. Having signed a five-year deal in the summer, he’s committed to Bournemouth for now. The numbers, though, speak for themselves — and now, even Pep Guardiola has joined the list of admirers. For Bournemouth fans, Semenyo isn’t just a rising star; he’s the symbol of their best-ever Premier League start.

According to football expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Pedri was not part of Barcelona’s training this morning. He wrote:

Barcelona midfielder Pedri suffers muscle injury and will be assessed by the staff. He’s not training with the team today, per RAC1.

Pedri has been one of the standout players for Barcelona since he broke through from the famous La Masia. He is also a vital part of the Spain national team and they would hope his injury is not long-term as they prepare for the November international window.

Barcelona will return to action in LaLiga against Elche on Sunday as they try to close the gap on Real Madrid.

The player has now released a statement which was shared via Fabrizio Romano’s official X handle.

Vini Jr statement

Today I want to apologize to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was substituted in the Clásico. Just as I have already done in person during today’s training, I also want to apologize again to my teammates, the club, and the president.

Sometimes passion gets the better of me because I always want to win and help my team. My competitive character stems from the love I feel for this club and everything it represents. I promise to keep fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since the first day.

Real Madrid’s management were angry at the incident and discussed disciplinary action against the player. They were not happy with the insensitive nature of the player to recognise that his substitution was down to tactical reasons, rather than the Coach not liking him.

Vinicius is currently negotiating a new contract with Real Madrid but the club are yet to agree on a deal as the salary he is demanding is too high and the club do not want to break their salary structure for him.

Vinicius sees himself as a very important player for Real Madrid and reports in some quarters say if he is not seen as indispensable, he might seek a move at the end of the current season.

“I’m feeling great,” Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus claims after his longest career injury

Speaking in an interview shared via Arsenal’s official X handle, Gabriel Jesus remains optimistic about his recovery and returning to training with his teammates. He said:

Yeah, I’m feeling great, man. My knee’s responding very well. So now I’m looking forward to being around the team again soon, to come back to do what I love to do. It’s been too long.

An injury like this, one that is so long, you split up the recovery periods into smaller timings. So now I’m at the stage where I need to hold myself back a little bit, because I’m doing great work outside on the pitches, but it’s tricky because I need to not rush myself too hard over the line. When you can see the end, it’s important you don’t push too hard, keep my feet on the floor, and then as soon as the time comes, I will be ready.

Gabriel Jesus became a father for the second time in the summer, a special moment that helped him through the pains of his longest-ever injury layoff.

Arsenal are doing great with Gabriel and are currently top of the premier league table with 22 points after nine matches so far this season.

According to football expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, the Italian is willing to join the Turin club. He revealed:

Luciano Spalletti has agreed to become new Juventus manager, deal in place.

Verbal agreement until June 2026 plus option to extend based on Champions League spot to reach this season.

Formal steps/contracts being checked by lawyers before signing all documents. ✍🏼

Luciano Spalletti last Serie A job was as manager of Napoli where he led the club to their first Scudetto title in 30 years with players like Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia playing key roles at the time.

However, difference in ambition and transfer targets led to Spalletti and the club parting ways and it wasn’t long before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia moved to Paris Saint-Germain where he went on to win Ligue 1, UEFA Champions League and played in the Club World Cup final while Victor Osimhen led Galatasaray to the Turkish Super Lig title and won the most Valuable Player and Topscorer award in Turkey last season.

Juventus are currently placed eighth with 12 points and Spalletti’s first match, if confirmed as manager, is expected to be against Cremonese on Saturday.

Mikel Obi insists tragic loss of Diogo Jota is affecting Liverpool this season

Chelsea legend Mikel Obi has refused to criticize Liverpool despite their poor form recently as he insisted that the club is still suffering from the effect of Diogo Jota’s death, Softfootball reports.

The football world was thrown into shock as the news broke that Jota and brother Andre Silva died in a car accident in July.

The Reds began the season well by winning their first five Premier League matches but their form has deeper in recent times as they have lost their last four matches against Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Manchester United and Brentford.

However, speaking on his official podcast ‘ObiOne,’ Mikel believes Liverpool’s form is greatly affected by the demise of Jota. He said:

Let’s not forget that a massive tragedy happened at the club that nobody expected.

As footballers, we spend more time with our teammates than with our own families because we are together in the dressing room every single day.

Losing such a massive figure is always going to affect these players. It doesn’t matter how well they started the season or how talented they are – something like this hits you emotionally, and it stays with you. For me, whatever is happening at the club, the emotion is still very raw.

When you look at Mohamed Salah right now, who was very close to Jota, you can see that he is a shadow of his former self.

So, I think we need to be careful and a bit more understanding in the way we criticise this Liverpool team.

Here is a video of the podcast. Watch below.

The major reason they won their first five Premier League matches was down to the good form of Hugo Ekitike, who arrived the club from Bundesliga outfit and hit the ground running with goals.

But the arrival of Alexander Isak created a problem for Arne Slot as he couldn’t fit both huge money strikers in the same team and the creative supply was low because huge money signing, Florian Wirtz struggled for form.

Liverpool face Crystal Palace in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup this weekend and would hope a return to winning ways could spark a revival in the Premier League where they are currently placed seventh with 15 points after nine matches.

The special kit was also worn by the women’s team during their game against Granada earlier this month.

Interestingly, English players made impact in the El Clasico, Marcus Rashford playing in the derby for the first time since he joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester United provided the assist for Fermin Lopez’s equaliser while Jude Bellingham scored the winner for Real Madrid.

The home side took an early advantage when Toma Bašić pounced on a mistake by new signing Jonathan David to give Lazio the lead.

However, David almost made up for his earlier error when he collected a pass from Teun Koopmeiners but Lazio’s goalkeeper, Ivan Provedel rushed off his line to parry his dinked.

In the second half, the Old Lady star player Kenan Yildiz replaced Cambiaso as Juve looked for a way back in the game. The switch in formation almost paid off as Kelly slammed a powerful shot off the crossbar from 12 yards after receiving an assist from Yildiz.

Former Arsenal midfielder, Matteo Guendouzi who made his 100th appearance for Lazio was strong in midfield and atimes at the center of controversial moments but his tenacity paid off as he helped his side defend their 1-0 lead until the final whistle.

Juventus are still above Lazio on the Serie A table but the points difference is just one. The Old Lady’s are currently placed eighth with eight points while Lazio sit 10th with seven points after eight matches so far this season.

Speaking in the post-match interview shared via Arsenal’s official X handle. Timber said:

Everyone plays a part in it, but it’s a good thing and a good foundation to build on. From that standard, you just have to keep getting better and be consistent in what we do, and then throughout the whole season, hopefully we’ll turn into something beautiful.

It gives you confidence and it shows that we’re doing really well, and also, if it’s for multiple games in a row, I think it says something about consistency. We just have to keep that going game-by-game, keep improving, look at what we can do better still, but also take that feeling with you, that confidence and go into the next game with the same mindset.

Former Crystal Palace midfielder, Eberechi Eze scored the alone goal of the match in the first half of the encounter through an audacious half volley. The Gunners tried to extend their lead but the Eagles held firm and also could not get a goal as it ended 1-0.

Meanwhile, there was a little concern for Arsenal as France international William Saliba went off with a knock. Mikel Arteta will hope it is not too serious as they prepare to face Brighton in the fourth round of the English FA Cup on Wednesday.

Barcelona fought their way back into the match as Spain international Fermin Lopez equalised for the away side but the Los Blancos had the last laugh as English star, Jude Bellingham scored to make it 2-1. Barcelona finished the game with 10-men as Pedri was sent off late in the match.

Elliot joined Aston Villa on transfer deadline day on loan from Liverpool. But he has struggled for game time with Villa and Emery dropping him against Manchester City when he is fully fit is not good news for the midfielder.

Elliot left Liverpool because he wanted more playing time as he was a fringe star at Anfield but his situation hasn’t changed with places for the 2026 World Cup reducing by the day, the England youngster is desperate for more game time.

As a result of the win, Aston Villa moved into eighth position on the Premier League table with 15 points while Manchester City sit fifth with 16 points.

Arsenal record 700th premier league wins as Eze nets winner against Crystal Palace

Eberechi Eze was the hero for Arsenal in the premier league match-day 9 as he scored the winner against his former side Crystal Palace at the Emirates to help the North London side record its 700th win in the competition, Softfootball reports.

The Gunners thrashed Laliga giants Atletico Madrid 4-0 in midweek and followed it up with a 1-0 win over the Eagles which gives them a four points lead ontop of the table following defeats for Manchester City and Liverpool this weekend.

Eze moved to the Emirates for £67m in the summer and has already integrated with his new teammates. His first half goal came from another trademark Arsenal set-piece. Former West Ham Captain, Declan Rice curled a free-kick into the area which was knocked down by Gabriel before Eze finished acrobatically.

The Eagles, who lost to AEK Larnaca on Thursday night pushed for the equalizer with Jean-Philippe Mateta battling against the solid Arsenal defence but the Gunners stayed solid as David Raya in goal kept another clean sheet this season.

However, at the other side of the pitch Arsenal nearly doubled their lead in the second half when Gabriel hit the crossbar with a powerful header before England international, Bukayo Saka curled an effort from the edge of the penalty area but it went off target.

Arsenal held on for the all important three points. The Gunners are now unbeaten in 10 matches in all competitions. The North London side are top of the table with 22 points followed by Bournemouth with 18 points while Crystal Palace sit 10th with 13 points.

Everton vs Tottenham: Grealish returns as Toffees welcome Spurs to Hill Dickinson Stadium

Jack Grealish will be back in Everton’s starting line-up when they host Tottenham Hotspur at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday, Softfootball reports.

Head-to-Head

They have been a total of 190 matches between these two sides with Tottenham Hotspur winning 72, Everton 58 and they’ve drawn 60 times.

David Moyes led Everton to their most recent win in January 2025, where a late Spurs fightback was fruitless in a 3-2. Spurs previously thumped Everton 4-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in August 2024.

Star player

For Everton, the star of the team is Jack Grealish. He is playing like a different player since he joined Everton on loan from Manchester City and enjoying the freedom he gets. The England international has four assists for the Toffees and would be hoping for more against Tottenham.

Spurs will rely on Mohammed Kudus to cause damage to Everton despite playing away from home. The Ghanaian is very good with creating chances and dribbles out of tight spaces easily.

Team News

David Moyes will be happy to have Jack Grealish back to the matchday squad after he was ineligible to face parent club Man City last time out. Carlos Alcaraz might drop to the bench as a result.

Jarrad Branthwaite needs surgery to correct a troublesome hamstring injury and faces an indefinite period on the sidelines while Nathan Patterson is also likely to spend the next few weeks out due to a combination of a foot problem and a hernia.

Bayern star Jonas Urbig satisfied with performance in win over Mönchengladbach

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Jonas Urbig says he is satisfied with the team’s performance after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach, Softfootball reports.

Urbig who was on the bench as he watched Harry Kane inspire Bayern to a win over Dortmund in the Der Klassiker last week, grabbed his opportunity as he replaced Manuel Neuer in goal for the Bundesliga’s match-day 8 encounter.

He shared his thoughts on the game with Bayern Munich’s official X handle. He said:

We defended well, one or two situations aside. The team made it easy for me, I had almost nothing to do. It was a typical game of patience. We had to wear down our opponents in the first half, even though we had some chances we could have taken. We rewarded ourselves in the second half, we scored the goals and won. It was a bit of a derby for me personally, as a former Köln player, I’m particularly glad about it. I have a really good feeling ahead of the cup game at Köln. We turned in a strong team display, we’ll build on that.

Topscorer, Harry Kane had a goal disallowed in the first half but it was no problem as the Bavarians scored three second half goals to win the match. Joshua Kimmich scored the first goal, Raphaël Guerreiro made it 2-0 before 17-year-old Lennart Karl made it 3-0 after Mönchengladbach’s Kevin Stöger had missed a penalty.

The win made Bayern became the second club in Europe’s top five leagues to start a domestic season with 13 straight victories, after AC Milan (1992/93) in all competitions as they stay top of the Bundesliga table with a 100% record.

After the match, Cunha expressed his delight in an interview that was shared via Fabrizio Romano’s official X handle. He wrote:

Matheus Cunha: My message to Man United fans… I am one of them. This is the club I grew up watching and to be here is a mix of sensations. To help them, it is my dream come true.

Manchester United’s official X handle also posted a video of Cunha’s first goal for the club. Watch below.

Cunha joined Manchester United from Wolves in the summer but was yet to score before the Brighton game and many question his acquisition considering the fact that Bruno Fernandez also plays the number 10 role and Bryan Mbeumo was also drafted in for the same purpose.

The Brazilian was even benched against Chelsea for England international, Mason Mount but he stayed calm and believed in his own abilities. Now, its paying off and he is beginning to earn more respect as a player that can handle his own in a top club. He was one of the best players against Liverpool last week and won the Man-of-the-Match Award against Brighton.

Manchester United fans will hope that his first goal for the club will be first of many just like he did for Wolves, especially in his final season where he scored 15 premier league goals with six assists.

Bryan Mbeumo happy with brace in Manchester United’s win over Brighton

Bryan Mbeumo expressed delight after scoring a brace for Manchester United as they humbled Brighton 4-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday night, Softfootball reports.

The Cameroon is quick turning into a firm fan favourite since he completed his summer move to Ruben Amorim’s side. He scored the third and fourth goal in Manchester United’s 4-2 win over Brighton to increase his tally to four this season.

Mbuemo has had 33 goals contribution since last since, only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah has more than the former Brentford winger, who has continued to paint the premier league red with goals.

Interestingly, Mbeumo has scored this season against Liverpool, Sunderland and Brighton. He almost got a hat-trick against the Seagulls but his second half shot went off the right-hand post.

Manchester United are currently in fourth position courtesy of the Brighton win, which was their third consecutive win under Ruben Amorim for the first time since he took charge of the club last season.

Bruno Fernandez leads Manchester United to victory over Brighton on his 300th appearance

Bruno Fernandez made his 300th appearance for Manchester United as they defeated in-form Brighton 4-2 in the premier league match-day 9 played at Old Trafford, Softfootball reports.

The Red Devils followed up on their 2-1 away win over Liverpool at Anfield last weekend, making it three consecutive wins in the premier league for the first time under Ruben Amorim’s reign. But most importantly, Manchester United have NEVER lost a Premier League game at Old Trafford when leading at half time with the record standing at 301 wins, 25 draws and zero defeats in 326 games.

Manchester United played some beautiful football in the first half and took a deserved lead through Matheus Cunha after he received the ball from fellow Brazilian, Casemiro on the edge of the box, he masterfully placed a right footed shot into the bottom right corner of the net. It was his first goal for Manchester United since he joined at the summer from Wolves.

Casimiro made it 2-0 with a shot that deflected off Bart Verbruggen and that got the fans inside Old Trafford jumping and the noise increased. The Red Devils didn’t let off in the second half as Benjamin Sesko set up Bryan Mbeumo to score Manchester United’s third goal.

However, the visitors reduced the deficit through former Manchester United striker, Danny Welbeck as he curled a beautiful freekick past the Manchester United goalkeeper to make it 3-1. And soon, it was 3-2 as 18-year-old Greek forward, Charalampos Kostoulas headed in a corner kick inside the seven minutes injury time.

At the end of the encounter, Manchester United official X handle shared a video of players and coaches enjoying the victory with fans. Watch below.

With pressure mounting on the Manchester United defense, the 20-time premier league champion found a way. Substitute, Ayden Heaven played a neat pass forward and Mbeumo ran onto it and applied a fierce left foot finish that made it 4-2 with virtually the last kick of the match and gained all three points for the home side.

Manchester United finished the day in fourth position with 16 points after nine matches while Brighton sit 15th with 10 points.

Kevin Stöger misses penalty as Bayern Munich beat 10-man Mönchengladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach missed a penalty and went down to 10-men as they lost 3-0 to Bayern Munich in the match-day 8 of the Bundesliga played on Saturday, Softfootball reports.

Harry Kane, who recently scored his 400th career goal during Bayern Munich’s 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund last week did not register a goal as his effort in the first half was ruled out for offside but the Bavarians maintained their perfect start to the season.

Interestingly, the first half of the encounter ended goalless as the home side defended very well against a dangerous Bayern Munich frontline. But Captain, Joshua Kimmich broke Gladbach’s resistance with the opening goal of the game. Former Arsenal winger, Gnabry played a clever pass into the path of Kimmich and although his first shot was blocked, he found the bottom corner on the follow-up.

Bayern carve out a two-goal cushion with a lovely team move as former Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise threaded a pass into the penalty area for Raphaël Guerreiro and he swept the ball beyond Nicolas in goal for the home side to make it 2-0.

Mönchengladbach had the opportunity to reduce the deficit when VAR awarded them a penalty after review but Kevin Stöger’s effort came back off the upright despite sending the Bayern goalkeeper the wrong way.

The Bavarians then wrapped up the game with a third goal from 17-year-old, Lennart Karl, who bends a stunning finish into the far corner. After the win, Bayern became the second club in Europe’s top five leagues to start a domestic season with 13 straight wins, after AC Milan (1992/93) in all competitions.

Bayern Munich remain top of the table with 24 points after winning all their eight matches in the Bundesliga and scoring a whopping 30 goals while Borussia Mönchengladbach are rock bottom with just three points.

Late Drama at San Siro as AC Milan Let Two Points Slip Against Brave Pisa

It was a strange, restless evening at San Siro, one that started like a stroll and ended with AC Milan fans rubbing their eyes in disbelief.

For most of the match, the Rossoneri had everything under control, yet somehow they let a bottom-placed Pisa side walk away with a 2–2 draw. As covered by Softfootball, Milan were a few minutes away from another three points before everything suddenly went sideways.

Rafael Leão got things moving early, scoring a classic solo goal in just the seventh minute — that cut inside, that curling finish, it was pure Leão. Luka Modrić and Youssouf Fofana kept the tempo sharp, and for a while, it felt like Milan could score whenever they wanted.

Even Leão rattled the bar after halftime, inches from doubling the lead. Away from the pitch, Softfootball reported that Fikayo Tomori, who stayed on the bench tonight, is in advanced talks for a new deal running until 2030—a big statement about Milan’s long-term core.

But then, football happened. Around the 60th minute, a messy VAR check found Koni De Winter’s hand in the wrong place. Juan Cuadrado didn’t blink, calmly sending Maignan the wrong way. Out of nowhere, Pisa were level, and the mood in the stadium dipped from control to concern.

The shock deepened late on. In the 86th minute, M’Bala Nzola slipped behind Milan’s defence and fired in to make it 2–1. You could almost hear the disbelief — a pin-drop moment at San Siro.

And what a time to get it 😮‍💨 pic.twitter.com/hphCoejwbR

— AC Milan (@acmilan) October 24, 2025

But Milan refused to die quietly. Zachary Athekame, on as a sub and barely in the spotlight until then, pounced in the 93rd minute to hammer home the equaliser.

His first goal for the club, as posted on the club’s official X account, and what a time to get it. There was even a gasp at the very end when Saelemaekers’ solo run nearly turned into a winner, but it just wasn’t meant to be.

So, 2–2. Not the night Milan expected, not at all. They stay top for now, though this draw will sting. A game that should have been wrapped up long before the chaos. For Pisa, it’s a different story: their first point of the season and maybe a spark for something bigger.

Bruno Fernandes Reflects on 300th Manchester United Game and Sets Sights on Major Glory

In a heartfelt chat ahead of his 300th Manchester United appearance against Brighton on October 25, 2025, captain Bruno Fernandes opened up about his journey, ambitions, and loyalty to the club.

Speaking candidly, the Portuguese midfielder, who Softfootball earlier reported about for remaining committed to Manchester United despite Saudi interest, said that his dream of lifting major trophies still burns brightly.

As posted by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account, Fernandes said:

My aim is to win the Premier League and Champions League at Manchester United. I haven’t been able to give the success that this club wants and deserves, and also the success that I wanted in my head when I signed for United… so my mission is clear.

Since arriving in January 2020, Fernandes has registered 100 goals and 87 assists in 299 matches, collecting two domestic cups along the way. Yet, he admits the biggest prizes are still missing. He added:

People will see me as a better player when I win something bigger with the team.

The midfielder revealed he turned down a £100 million offer from Al Hilal last summer, after consulting Cristiano Ronaldo and club chiefs. He said firmly, dismissing talk of a pre-agreement for 2026:

I wasn’t eager to move… I wanted to stay at the club.

The United captain reflected on his milestone moment, saying that playing 300 times for the club is far beyond anything I dreamed of. He added:

As a kid, I played football 24/7. That same kid is still inside me, hungry and happy every time I step on the pitch.

As Manchester United prepare to host Brighton at Old Trafford, Fernandes believes the team is evolving in the right direction. He said:

We’re growing, and we know what we have to do: win the next game, one at a time.

For Bruno Fernandes, 300 appearances are not the finish line, as it is just another step in his mission to bring glory back to Manchester United.

Manchester United Seek Fourth Straight Win as Brighton Visit Old Trafford

Manchester United will look to stretch their winning run to four games when they face Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Rúben Amorim’s men have started to click, and the mood around the club is beginning to change—especially after that stunning 2–1 win over Liverpool at Anfield, as reported by Softfootball. It was United’s first league victory there in a decade and probably the most defining result of Amorim’s early reign.

The Red Devils have now won three straight Premier League matches for the first time under the Portuguese boss. Confidence is back at Old Trafford, where they have taken three wins on the bounce. Defender Matthijs de Ligt, as reported by Softfootball, said he is hitting his prime years at Manchester United and has quietly become a rock at the back. Amorim’s tactical structure is working — solid, sharp, and focused — but Brighton’s visit won’t be a stroll.

Brighton, led by Fabian Hürzeler, arrive unbeaten in four league games after seeing off Newcastle 2–1. They have got the youngest average starting XI in the league, full of energy and ideas. Still, one clean sheet in twenty matches tells its own story. Oddly, Brighton have dominated this fixture — six wins in the last seven meetings and three straight at Old Trafford. No side has done that since Manchester City in the late ‘60s.

Softfootball’s Prediction

It feels like United are finally finding rhythm under Amorim, but Brighton’s movement and bravery in attack make them tricky to contain. Bryan Mbeumo, who’s been involved in six goals in his last four starts against Brighton, could be decisive again. On the other end, Danny Welbeck, fresh off four goals in three matches, would love to remind his old fans what they once had.

Softfootball tips a 2–1 win for Manchester United, but don’t rule out a draw — Brighton’s record at Old Trafford speaks for itself.

Raphinha Suffers Fresh Setback as Barcelona Face El Clásico Without Key Winger

It’s another frustrating twist for Barcelona, as Raphinha’s long-awaited comeback looks set to be delayed again. The Brazilian winger walked off Friday’s training session on October 24, 2025, after feeling a new discomfort that left fans worried all over again, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account.

Raphinha (Photo Credit: FCBarcelona via X)
Raphinha (Photo Credit: FCBarcelona via X)

Just when it seemed like he was ready to return for Sunday’s El Clásico against Real Madrid, things turned around quickly. The winger had been pushing hard for a return following Barcelona’s 6–1 rout of Olympiacos in midweek, as reported by Softfootball.

People close to the club say he spoke briefly with the medical team before leaving the pitch looking frustrated. He was expected to get the green light to play, maybe even start, but that’s now off the table. Hansi Flick, who recently said Barcelona always wanted to keep Fermin López, as reported by Softfootball, might have to turn to the youngster again, just like he did in midweek.

Raphinha (Photo Credit: FCBarcelona via X)
Raphinha (Photo Credit: FCBarcelona via X)

Raphinha’s story this season has been stop-start. The first injury came on September 25 against Real Oviedo, and after weeks of rehab, things looked promising. Now, medical staff believe he will be out for about another month. It’s tough luck for a player who has been desperate to help the team, especially with such a massive fixture ahead.

Flick’s problems keep piling up. He’s missing Gavi, Ter Stegen, Lewandowski, and Dani Olmo, and to make matters worse, he’ll be watching El Clásico from the stands due to his suspension. Without Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres might get the nod, though both have their own knocks and moments of inconsistency.

🚨⚠ Raphinha left today’s training session after good feelings yesterday to get the green light.

— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) October 24, 2025

At this point, Barcelona can only hope the injury doesn’t linger too long. Raphinha brings energy, flair, and that bit of chaos defenders hate. Losing him again right before Real Madrid feels like déjà vu for Flick and his squad.
