T-Mobile Users Hit With $96 Charge Alert After Losing DashPass Perk
For a long time, T-Mobile, the “Un-carrier,” was characterized by loading its plans with perks. However, it is currently confusing and frustrating a portion of its customer base. Many T-Mobile subscribers who qualified for a free DashPass by DoorDash subscription are now receiving sudden text alerts claiming their line is no longer eligible for the benefit. The core issue: these customers insist they have made no changes to their qualifying plans.
The text messages warn users that if they do not switch to an “eligible plan” or proactively cancel their DashPass subscription, they will get a $96 bill per year plus tax. This is the standard annual cost for DashPass, a service that provides zero delivery fees and reduced service fees for frequent DoorDash users. Originally, this benefit should have lasted these customers well into 2026.
T-Mobile is ending free DashPass for many customers
T-Mobile initially rolled out the generous offer to a wide range of plans. The list included Go5G Next, Magenta MAX, and several others. However, the fine print on T-Mobile’s FAQ page reveals a change. The list of eligible plans has been drastically tightened, now only mentioning the “Experience Beyond” and “Experience More” plans. The updated policy states, “If there are changes to your T-Mobile rate plan that disqualify you from the DashPass perk, your DashPass membership will automatically switch to a paid DashPass Annual plan.”
This situation has created widespread confusion. Customers on Reddit report reaching out to T-Mobile’s social media support, only get that the company is looking into what may be a technical glitch as an answer. The lack of clarity leaves customers in a difficult position. After all, they are at risk of getting surprise annual charges.
The issue may resolve as a simple mistake. However, the sudden alerts and the quiet tightening of eligibility requirements raise concerns among T-Mobile users about the stability of the perks that often influence their choice of carrier. For now, subscribers who got the text need to confirm their eligibility status before the unexpected charge takes effect.
