Samsung expands Global HVAC business with FlaktGroup acquisition
Samsung has completed its purchase of FlaktGroup, one of Europe’s biggest and oldest HVAC companies. This deal will help Samsung grow in the global market for air systems used in buildings, factories, and data centers.
With this acquisition, Samsung plans to use FlaktGroup’s strong production and sales network to improve research and development, strengthen its supply chain, and combine both companies’ products and technologies. FläktGroup’s brands, including Woods Air Movement, SEMCO, and SE-Elektronic, will now be part of Samsung Electronics
However, FläktGroup will continue to work under its own name with the same management and staff. The company is keeping its identity and long history.
Samsung plans to make HVAC a key growth area within its DX Division. The company will focus on large-scale air systems for commercial buildings, factories, hospitals, and biopharmaceutical plants. It will also expand into high-demand sectors such as AI data centers, which require advanced cooling systems.

The acquisition follows Samsung’s joint venture with Lennox in 2024, aimed at strengthening its position in North America. By connecting FläktGroup’s advanced control systems with Samsung’s SmartThings Pro and b.IoT platforms, the company plans to create smarter, energy-saving building management solutions.
With over 100 years of experience, FlaktGroup brings valuable technology and a strong global presence. This partnership will allow Samsung to offer more complete and efficient HVAC solutions worldwide.
TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics, said:
“This marks a strategic move for Samsung, aimed at leading the global HVAC and data center markets. By merging FläktGroup’s technological expertise with Samsung’s AI platforms, we aim to set a new benchmark in the industry, delivering innovative solutions to customers.”
