Samsung and Mercedes to meet next week over future partnerships
Samsung and Mercedes-Benz are set to meet in Seoul next week to discuss possible new collaborations. Samsung chairman Jay Y. Lee and Mercedes CEO Ola Kallenius will lead the talks on November 13. Leaders from Samsung SDI and Samsung Display are also expected to join.
While the companies have not shared the details of the meeting, sources expect them to focus on electric vehicle (EV) batteries, car chips, and display technology. These areas are important for both companies as they plan for the future.
Samsung and Mercedes already work together in some areas. Samsung’s Harman unit provides Mercedes with its MBUX infotainment system, which is used in cars like the EQS electric sedan. Some Mercedes models also allow drivers to use Samsung Wallet as a digital key, letting them unlock and start the car with a Galaxy smartphone.

Battery supply and automotive chips are likely key discussion points. Mercedes currently gets batteries from LG Energy Solution and SK On. Samsung SDI supplies batteries to BMW, Audi, and Rivian and is working with BMW on next-generation solid-state batteries.
Samsung also recently signed a deal to supply batteries to Tesla. If Mercedes starts using Samsung batteries too, it would strengthen Samsung’s position in the growing EV market.
In addition, Samsung Display is expected to supply OLED panels for future Maybach models, with production possibly starting in 2028. Expanding this to more Mercedes cars could improve their high-end interiors. Stay tuned for more information.
