Report: Sheffield United eyeing January move for former Leeds ace

Sheffield United are reportedly interested in signing Joe Rothwell during the January transfer window.

The midfielder was excellent for Leeds United last season, but they decided against signing him permanently when they secured promotion to the Premier League.

Joe Rothwell to return to England?

The player joined Rangers from Bournemouth during the last transfer window, but he has struggled to make his mark in Scotland. He will hope to play regularly once again, and Chris Wilder is prepared to provide him with that opportunity at Sheffield United, as per Glasgow World.

The 30-year-old has shown his quality in the Championship with clubs like Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, and Southampton. There is no doubt that he could be a very useful player for Sheffield United. Wilder needs more quality in the middle of the park, and the 30-year-old has the quality and the experience to help them improve. His leadership skills could also be invaluable for the Blades.

Rothwell will look to get his career back on track with regular opportunities. He has the quality and the experience to make an instant impact in the Championship, and it remains to be seen whether he can establish himself as a key player for Sheffield United. Rangers are unlikely to stand in his way in January. He has been an underperformer for them, and they will look to get rid of the player and bring in an upgrade.

It will be interesting to see if the 30-year-old can hold down a regular starting spot at Sheffield United during the second half of the season.

He will add control, composure, and set-piece ability to the team. He was excellent for Leeds United when they secured promotion to the Premier League, and he could prove to be a very useful acquisition for Sheffield United as well.

Player takes a swipe at Leicester City after “difficult” transfer

Leicester City midfielder Bilal El Khannouss is currently on loan at German club VfB Stuttgart.

The midfielder has done quite well for the German outfit, and he is expected to join them permanently. The Moroccan international does not want to return to the English club in the future, and he has been quite harsh with his comments regarding Leicester in the past.

Bilal El Khannouss slams Leicester

It seems that the player has taken a swipe at the Championship outfit once again. In a recent interview, the midfielder explained that Leicester City made it very difficult for him to leave in the summer, and the resistance from the club was baffling because he had a release clause in his contract.

“We reached an agreement with Stuttgart. They were always there,” he added (h/t SportWitness).

“And I’m satisfied, even though, to be honest, it wasn’t easy this summer. It was difficult to find a way out of Leicester; they didn’t make it easy for me. What I especially didn’t understand was why it didn’t work out despite my release clause.”

His comments will not go down well with the Leicester City fans. It is clear that he is not happy with the way his move was handled during the summer transfer window. However, he should have been more professional in his reaction towards the club.

Even though he does not want to play for them again and wants to compete at a higher level, Leicester City played a key role in his development. They gave him valuable experience in the Premier League, and the fans would have expected more respect from the player towards the club.

It will be interesting to see if he can sort out his long-term future and focus on his football. There is no doubt that he is a talented player with a bright future, and he deserves to compete at a high level.

El Khannouss is a target for Newcastle.

West Ham set to sign striker from English club

West Ham are planning to sign a striker in January, with Niclas Fullkrug almost certain to leave the London Stadium. A number of targets have been identified over the last few months, with one of those currently plying his trade in the Championship.

Fullkrug’s expected departure would leave Callum Wilson as the only recognised striker in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad, but regardless, there has long been a desire within West Ham to address their number nine woes. The club have struggled to sign the right player for a number of years, but they hope to put that right in 2026 – and they could do so with Josh Sargent.

According to GiveMeSport (via West Ham Zone), West Ham are keen on a January move for Sargent, whom Norwich are prepared to sell for a fee in the region of £17.5m. The Hammers want to sign a striker who is physical and has experience of English football, and the USA international would fit those criteria.

Sargent, who joined Norwich from Werder Bremen in 2021, has a relatively good record at Carrow Road, with 55 goals in 154 appearances across all competitions. He has struck seven times this season, with six of those coming in the Championship.

Is Josh Sargent the answer to West Ham’s striker woes?

Sargent would no doubt welcome a return to the Premier League, where he has experience with Norwich. However, he did not have the best record, which could be a concern for West Ham, who really need to finally find the solution in attack.

It remains to be seen who West Ham go for, but there will undoubtedly be a sense of desperation in their pursuit – which they cannot afford, given their struggles in recent years.

“It wouldn’t surprise me…”: Leicester City ace tipped for January exit

Leicester City midfielder Harry Winks has been linked with a move away from the club when the transfer window reopens in January.

The midfielder lost his place in the team when he had a fallout with Ruud Van Nistelrooy. However, his situation changed after the arrival of Maruti Cifuentes. Now the player is struggling to hold down a starting spot once again. It will be interesting to see if he can establish himself as a key player for the Foxes during the second half of the season.

Harry Winks could be useful

There is no doubt that they need more control and composure in the middle of the park. The former Tottenham midfielder could be very useful for them. However, he will need to convince the manager that he deserves more opportunities in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Adrian Clarke believes that they certainly something going on behind the scenes at the club, and that is why Winks has struggled for regular opportunities.

“Harry Winks, there is an issue with Harry Winks, I don’t know what it is, but he had a poor game last week and got hooked at half time”, Clarke said via InsideFutbol.

“There is talk of stuff at the training ground and whatnot, hbut e was left out of the squad altogether.

“There is clearly something going on behind the scenes and it wouldn’t surprise me if he moved on in January if they could find a buyer.”

It will be interesting to see if the Foxes decide to cash in on the player during the January transfer window. He has the quality and the experience to help them improve, but things have not gone according to plan for him this season. Perhaps a fresh start would be ideal for the player as well. It remains to be seen whether he decides to seek an exit in January.

Leicester have had a disappointing season so far, and they will look to bounce back strongly. If they decide to cash in on the midfielder, they will need to bring in a quality replacement.
