Tottenham make decision on Thomas Frank future following Nottingham Forest defeat

Thomas Frank has had a difficult start to life at Tottenham, made more so by Sunday’s dismal 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. The former Brentford manager is under severe pressure in North London, as his side sit 11th in the Premier League standings.

In the last 24 hours, it has been reported that Tottenham are looking into replacements for Frank, although they are not yet prepared to give him his marching orders.

As per Football Insider, Mick Brown has revealed that Tottenham are unlikely to make an imminent decision on Frank, with the idea being for him to remain in charge.

“There is a lot of pressure on Frank. Fans have been calling for him to be sacked, and after a result like the one against Nottingham Forest, he’s not going to have done himself any favours.

“I wouldn’t expect anything to happen immediately, because from what I’m told, they’re hoping to stick with him for the foreseeable future. But obviously, if results aren’t picking up and the crowd start turning against him, serious questions will be asked and it could force them to make a decision about where he stands. The feeling is that they want to back him long-term, so turning against him this early into his tenure isn’t going to be part of their plans.

“I know he’s been given a while to get his ideas across and he hasn’t quite met expectations yet, they’re having a torrid time and they have to turn that around. But they want to stick with the manager and hope he will be the one to get them out of it.”

Should Tottenham sack Thomas Frank?

It has been a difficult season for Tottenham. It makes sense that supporters want Frank out, although when taking into account their struggles during the 2024-25 Premier League campaign, it is clear that the club’s issues go beyond the manager.

Sources: Tottenham identify Thomas Frank replacement as manager continues to struggle

The future of Thomas Frank as Tottenham Hotspur manager is becoming uncertain, with mounting pressure on the Danish coach following a string of poor performances and growing discontent among supporters.

Frank, who only took charge of Spurs in the summer of 2025, is facing increasing scrutiny after a series of inconsistent results that have left the club drifting away from their top-four ambitions.

Internal discussions have already begun at Tottenham regarding his long-term position, with Mauricio Pochettino identified as the strongest potential replacement, sources close to agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.

Spurs’ owners, ENIC, are not currently planning an immediate dismissal. The board continues to show patience, believing that Frank deserves more time to implement his tactical ideas and stabilise the team.

Tottenham are not fully convinced with Thomas Frank

However, behind the scenes, frustration is building among certain senior figures who fear the season could spiral out of control if results do not improve soon.

Tottenham’s recent performances, including the 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest and disappointing draws against lower-ranked sides, have only intensified the pressure.

The team’s lack of attacking rhythm, defensive vulnerability, and unclear identity have left both fans and analysts questioning Frank’s methods.

Should Tottenham decide to make a managerial change, Pochettino remains the top candidate to return to North London.

Pochettino is currently the head coach of the United States men’s national team.

The Argentine, who famously guided Spurs to the Champions League final in 2019, still holds enormous affection among supporters and is seen as someone who understands the club’s culture and playing philosophy.

His familiarity with the club’s infrastructure and his history of developing young players make him an ideal fit for Spurs’ long-term vision.

While Pochettino is viewed as the front-runner, Tottenham have also shortlisted Oliver Glasner and Marco Silva as alternative options should the managerial situation escalate.

Glasner, currently at Crystal Palace, has impressed with his rapid impact since arriving in the Premier League, guiding the Eagles to an FA Cup triumph and implementing an intense, structured style of football.

His tactical acumen and ability to quickly adapt to English football make him a serious contender.

Silva, meanwhile, has earned plaudits for his work at Fulham, where he has built a disciplined and competitive side on a limited budget.

Thomas Frank sends stern warning to the Tottenham board after 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has sent a warning to the Tottenham board after the latest defeat.

Tottenham fell to an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, their sixth defeat in the Premier League this season.

The result sees them now sit 11th in the table with 22 points, six points behind fourth placed Chelsea.

Fans showed their frustration at full-time but the manager sent the fans and the board a stern warning during the post match press-conference.

Thomas Frank did not shy away from the questions about his under future at Spurs. Instead, he fired a warning to the Tottenham board against making a decision to sack him.

The Dane was brought in with a long-term project in mind and the former Brentford manager reminded the hierarchy the need to be patient, insisted that the club’s problems run deeper than the manager and that stability is the only path to success.

When asked about his job, Frank told reporters: “I think it is extremely important to be calm and measured and of course have very very direct and clear messages at the right time.

“So they are not in doubt of what I think because and very honest about where we are as well as I was very honest it was a very bad performance. No two ways about that.

“But also know that to change this this will take some time. If no one gets the time, no one can turn this around. This is NOT a quick fix.”

Frank took over the Spurs job in the summer following the shock sacking of Ange Postecoglou who had just ended Tottenham’s long awaited trophy drought.

He came in with big reputation for his work at Brentford but so far, the start to his tenure at Spurs has been mixed.

In the event that the Tottenham board decides to part ways with yet another manager, there are some interesting candidates who could potentially take over.

Fulham boss Marco Silva remains a top choice, who is yet to renew his contract with the London club.

Silva is keen on taking a new challenge and will no doubt relish the opportunity to manage a club like Spurs.

Another name is Oliver Glasner who too is expected to leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season.
