The Galaxy TriFold is Samsung‘s latest innovation, as this foldable phone comes with two hinges and a big 10-inch screen that folds into a pocket-sized device. Recently, we have seen a real durability test of this smartphone’s dual hinge. Now, popular YouTuber JerryRigEverything has put the phone through a rigorous test to find out its overall durability.

Out of the box, the TriFold comes with many warnings like don’t press hard on the screen, keep it away from dust, and always fold starting with the non-camera panel. Jerry ignored this a little and tested the flap with the camera. The phone started to vibrate and change colors as it folded, as this is a safety feature built into the hinges.

The phone has an outer 6.5-inch display made of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. It scratches at a medium level (6-7 on the Mohs scale), which is normal for most high-end phones. The inner 10-inch flexible screen is much softer. It scratches easily with fingernails, keys, or coins. The back panels scratched more easily but did not shatter.

Samsung claims the Z TriFold can withstand 200,000 folds, roughly 100 folds per day over five years. During testing, the dual hinges performed well. The device’s sensors made folding easier and safer.

Heat resistance was another test. A direct flame was applied to the screens, with the exterior panel lasting 17 seconds before discoloration, and the inner flexible display burning after only 10 seconds. Samsung rates the phone as IP48 for water and dust, but real-time testing shows even a little dirt can get inside and affect the folding mechanism.

During bending and pressure tests, the phone flexed and even broke under strong force. The hinges themselves are strong, but the frame and panels are fragile. This test shows that the phone is not for rough handling.

This durability test shows that the Galaxy Z TriFold is an impressive phone. If handled carefully, it can be one of the most exciting and unique phones on the market today.
