Apple iPhone Air 2 seems alive, and Samsung fans will love it

Apple hasn’t dumped but is upgrading the camera of the iPhone Air 2. It seems that the era of ultra-slim phones isn’t over yet, as the world’s two leading firms are still working on their 2026 versions with upgraded specs.

TheInformation reports that Apple could equip the iPhone Air 2 with a dual camera setup. This move will help the next iPhone Air match Samsung’s first-generation slim phone, the Galaxy S25 Edge, in terms of camera specs.

iPhone Air has a 48MP wide-angle camera, which its sequel would retain. There’s not much known about the second camera sensor of the iPhone Air 2, but it is expected to be a 48MP sensor used as an ultrawide module.

The original iPhone Air brings a single rear camera, just like the SE and iPhone 16e phones. Samsung brought two exceptional image sensors to its very first model in the segment, with one featuring 200MP resolution.

Additionally,Β GSMArena reports that Apple might reduce the price of the iPhone Air 2 to $899. The S25 Edge at $1,099 is already $100 expensive than the iPhone Air, and an additional $100 drop will make iPhone more appealing.

Samsung has put Galaxy S26 Edge on hold due to sluggish sales of the S25 Edge. The company tried attaching the Edge version to the main lineup, at the cost of Plus, but decided to take a step back and reconsider the strategy.

Galaxy S26 Edge was almost developed with a design influenced by iPhone 17 Pro. Korean media reported that the Edge is gone and Samsung won’t pursue it further. Meanwhile, another project is underway, dubbed β€œMore Slim.”

Smartphone development and commercialization are different things. The companies are still considering retaining the slim phones in 2026, but the decision will be made after a thorough evaluation and an estimated future scope.
