Western Conference team acquires Memphis Grizzlies All-Star ahead of NBA trade deadline

With two days left before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, the Memphis Grizzlies have made the move to deal two-time All-Star Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz.

As per ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania, the Jazz are acquiring Jackson Jr. from the Grizzlies along with Jock Landale, John Konchar, and Vince Williams Jr.

In exchange, three future first round picks will be heading to Memphis in addition to Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Georges Niang and Taylor Hendricks now also joining the Grizzlies.

Jazz adding another piece to their core

Jackson Jr. will now be joining a Utah Jazz squad who have the likes of Lauri Markkanen, Walker Kesseler and Keyonte George in their lineup.

In 2018, Jackson Jr. was drafted by Memphis out of Michigan State with the fourth overall pick and in the 2022-23 campaign, the now 26 year old forward/center was named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year.

So far this year, Jackson Jr. has averaged numbers of 19.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game for the Grizzlies, as per NBA.com.

Over the next seven NBA seasons, Memphis are now also set to have a total of 12 first round selections, as per ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
