Google releases Android 17 and Samsung leaks One UI 9 Beta
On February 13, Google released the first Beta of Android 17; at the same time, the first set of leaks related to Samsungβs One UI 9 Beta emerged.
Android 17 has embarked on its journey, with official release slated in the next quarter. Samsung, on the other hand, began internal Android 17 Beta testing, which will arrive on Galaxy devices with the One UI 9 update.
Android 17
If you own a Pixel phone, Android 17 is available for download today. You need to install the first Beta build through official steps. The next Beta is scheduled to be pushed in March 2026, followed by the final release in Q2.
Since the Android Canary Program is underway, Google may have already trimmed down the number of Beta updates. Beta rollouts may not just be capped at two releases; we might see even more builds through stability.
- Beta 1 was released on February 13.
- Beta 2 is expected in March 2026.
- Final release is scheduled for the April-June period

Last year, Google released stable Android 16 to Pixel phones on June 10. The update came within the given timeline of the second quarter. Things remain unchanged this year, and we should expect the full rollout this June.
One UI 9
Samsung will offer Android 17 update with One UI 9 on Galaxy devices. It will be built on the Android framework, but the user interface will have signature Galaxy aesthetics.
Hours before Google released Android 17, Samsung uploaded early One UI 9 builds based on the new OS for its upcoming foldable phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, and Wide Fold.
The company went beyond by leaking the One UI 9 for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. We may soon see the build getting spotted for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, one of the primary contenders for the Beta Program.
One UI 8 Beta, based on Android 16, was announced on May 28, 2025. Samsung later expanded the Beta Program beyond the Galaxy S25 series to the S24 series as well as Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.
With internal tests progressing quickly, Samsung may bring One UI 9 Beta early. Galaxy S26 series is expected to spend merely two or three months on One UI 8.5, as Beta could go live in May 2026.
