Discover The Best Of North America With Porter Airlines’ New Flights To Austin, Chicago, And Deer Lake

Porter Airlines is expanding with new routes to Austin and Chicago O’Hare. They are also adding a seasonal service from Ottawa to Deer Lake, Newfoundland. They are trying to connect more cities in Canada and the US and improve travel options for their customers. They want to enhance travel for either business or pleasure for customers to visit more attractions in North America.

New Seasonal Service to Deer Lake

Porter is starting in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, on June 10. They are trying to strengthen their Canadian flights. There will be 5 flights a week for the peak season. Deer Lake will give travelers more access to western Newfoundland. They will also have flights to Toronto Pearson and Halifax.

Porter Airlines Embraer E195-E2 aircraft will be used for this route and have free Wi-Fi and comfortable seating. Porter Airlines’ services to Deer Lake allow passengers to visit one of the most beautiful destinations in Canada and strengthen Porter’s commitment to improving domestic connectivity.

New Austin, Texas Destination

Porter Airlines has also announced that Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) will have year-round service starting May 21, 2026. This will be Porter Airlines’ first service to Austin, Texas, and fourth service to the United States. Service will be five (5) times per week, offering direct service to downtown Toronto and the bustling downtown Austin.

During the expansion to Austin, the airport also works to promote other service options. Local leaders were thrilled to have Porter Airlines as a new partner at AUS. This route enables direct service from Austin to Toronto, and from there, passengers have convenient access to Porter Airlines services throughout Canada.

Chicago-O’Hare as a New Gateway

Porter Airlines has plans to expand to Chicago. Beginning September 6, 2026, Porter Airlines will relocate from Chicago Midway (MDW) to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), which is a huge improvement considering that O’Hare is not only the main airport located in Chicago but also one of the busiest airports in the entire country.

Porter Airlines will provide travelers to Chicago with some extra traveling options by introducing 3 daily flights from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) to O’Hare. Additionally, the new O’Hare flights can be used with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facility, which is scheduled to open shortly at Billy Bishop, making the airport experience much better.

Porter Airlines has made it optional to strengthen the connections between the two biggest hubs in North America, and it will offer, in the near future, potential partnership of other carriers to connect flights in Chicago O’Hare.

Porter Airlines Signature Service on New Routes

Porter Airlines is expanding its service to more destinations. Passengers enjoy Porter’s unique services and professional services; there are no middle seats on their aircraft, and complimentary wine, beer, and premium snacks are served in glassware. Furthermore, complimentary fast Wi-Fi will be provided to all users on Porter’s new Embraer E195-E2, so users will be able to work in the air.

Andrew Pierce, Vice President of Network Planning and Reporting of Porter Airlines, explains that the company is making investments to improve customer satisfaction. New routes and expanded services will allow customers the same level of care and service, providing customers with an improved travel experience.

Reactions to Porter Airlines’ Expansion

Porter Airlines’ expansion has enthusiastic supporters among local leaders in the U.S. and Canada. The Toronto Port Authority, which manages Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, recognizes the new service to Chicago O’Hare and the growing Toronto and Chicago connection as an opportunity for their customers to easily travel to one of the most significant business hubs in North America. They mentioned that the new U.S. Preclearance facility at Billy Bishop will also allow for greater travel options.

In Deer Lake, the new Porter service has been described as an economic stimulus for the community and improved travel access for residents and visitors. Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority President and CEO noted the new service as part of a long-range goal for improved air service.

The new route to Austin has also generated positive comments from Toronto Pearson, Canada’s largest and busiest airport. Toronto Pearson’s Chief Commercial Officer noted that the new services will enhance passenger choice and access to important markets.

Porter Airlines’ Commitment to Growth

Porter Airlines has an enormous amount of confidence when it comes to expanding its new routes over the course of a few months. Porter is meeting the high demand for international travel with more routes and destinations, given that more Canadians are traveling to the U.S. now than in previous years.
