This facility is set to streamline aircraft operations, ensuring quicker turnarounds and improved service reliability. Pegasus Airlines has enhanced its aircraft maintenance capabilities by launching a state-of-the-art maintenance center at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. This facility, focused on digitalization, efficiency, and sustainability, can simultaneously service five narrow-body aircraft, bolstering the airline’s operational efficiency. With an initial investment of USD 40 million, the center is designed to optimize maintenance time and resources, minimize aircraft downtime, and improve overall operational performance.

The project, which began in January 2025, was completed within a year. The first phase includes two maintenance hangars, equipped to handle both line and base maintenance for five narrow-body aircraft at once, along with a dedicated paint hangar. The second phase, expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2026, will add another hangar for base maintenance of five additional narrow-body aircraft. In the third phase, set to start within 4-5 years, the facility will expand to accommodate up to ten narrow-body aircraft, completing the full scope of the maintenance center’s development.

These first-phase hangars, designed to integrate line and base maintenance operations, support a wide range of technical tasks, including engine and landing gear changes, avionics and structural modifications, full aircraft painting, livery design, component maintenance, and training activities.

Pegasus Enhances Maintenance and Operations with Phase One Hangars

Pegasus Airlines has bolstered its maintenance and operational infrastructure with the completion of its Phase One hangars, which can simultaneously service five narrow-body aircraft. These state-of-the-art facilities are designed to accommodate all narrow-body aircraft models, including Boeing 737 NG and the Airbus A320/A321 CEO and NEO families.

Spanning 18,000 square meters of enclosed space and supported by a 25,000-square-meter apron area, the facility is strategically situated at the intersection of two runways at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. With an investment of around USD 40 million, the first phase of the hangars will not only expand Pegasus’ technical capabilities but also provide new employment opportunities for approximately 200 people. Initially, the hangars will primarily service Pegasus’ expanding fleet, with plans to potentially accommodate aircraft from other airlines as capacity allows.
