Galaxy S26 Satellite Connectivity go Global; Samsung teams up with T-Mobile, Verizon, Vodafone

With the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung is expanding satellite communication across North America, Europe, and Japan through a wide network of carrier partnerships.

Satellite communication on smartphones began as an emergency-only feature. Apple helped popularize the concept globally, but Samsung’s 2025 rollout quietly laid its own foundation.

In the United States (North America), Samsung has aligned with three major operators. The combined effort gives Galaxy S26 users access to satellite-based messaging and emergency services across most of the US.

  • T-Mobile is working with Starlink to power satellite messaging beyond traditional coverage areas.
  • Verizon is supporting the feature through its eSOS infrastructure.
  • AT&T is also onboard, broadening reach across rural and remote regions.

Europe is seeing a similar push.

  • Virgin Media O2 is bringing satellite support to the UK.
  • MasOrange is conducting trials in Spain.
  • Vodafone is expanding the footprint across key EU markets.

Japan completes the triangle.

  • Samsung has partnered with KDDI, SoftBank, NTT docomo, and Rakuten Mobile.

The Galaxy S26 marks the first time Samsung is treating satellite as a scaled service layer. Satellite links can support lightweight data, AI driven alerts, and network redundancy when ground towers fail.

The Galaxy S26 is shaping up to be more than an iterative hardware upgrade. Samsung is building infrastructure, whichΒ defines the next phase of the mobile industry.

Won-Joon Choi, President, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Head of the R&D Office, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, said:

β€œSamsung has a rich legacy in wireless communication technologies, and we strive to be at the forefront of innovation in this space through open collaboration with global partners.”

β€œAs satellite connectivity becomes an important part of the mobile landscape, we are committed to ensuring Galaxy users have reliable access to communication, especially when they need it most.”
