Samsung drops two iconic marketing terms with Galaxy S26 Ultra
On February 25, Samsung introduced its new flagship phones and earbuds. The phones are full of adventure, thanks to their untold upgrades. Samsung also quietly dropped two iconic marketing terms with the Galaxy S26 Ultra and no one noticed it.
With the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung has rebranded the S Pen and 100x Zoom. The company has replaced its legacy “Embedded S Pen” and “Space Zoom” marketing terms with unified and something familiar labels.
Embedded S Pen is now S Pen
Samsung used to introduce stylus support as “Embedded S Pen,” but this aspect has now changed. The Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra still highlight the legacy branding, but the Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces a cleaner term, simply “S Pen.”
Rumors suggest the stylus may become an external accessory in a future flagship. The Galaxy S27 Ultra might be the first model to revive the S21 Ultra strategy. It seems Samsung is already preparing its specs sheet without noise.
S Pen works the same way as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but the Galaxy S26 Ultra specs sheet now mentions “S Pen,” not the familiar “Embedded S Pen.”
Space Zoom becomes Digital Zoom
Galaxy S20 Ultra was the first phone to introduce Space Zoom camera. It’s called Space Zoom, given its 100x zoom camera. Since then, Samsung’s Ultra models maintained the legacy, but the S26 Ultra is an exception here.
For the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung now calls it “100x Digital Zoom,” rather than “100x Space Zoom.” The zoom camera has improved much, and the change in branding is nothing but unification with other models.
Non-Ultra models, Galaxy S and S Plus, feature up to 30x zoom. The phones bring 3x optical zoom and up to 30x Digital Zoom. Samsung has always used “Digital Zoom” term for the non-Ultra models, which is now effective on the S26 Ultra as well.
