Augsburg coach Baum may stay on beyond the season
Manuel Baum is not ruling out staying on as Augsburg coach beyond the season after an original return to the helm as interim coach.
Baum, 46, took over from Sandro Wagner on a deal until the winter break which was then extended for the rest of the season.
The team has won five of their last six matches, including a surprise 2-1 at leaders Bayern Munich in January, to move 11 points clear of the danger zone.
Baum did not rule out staying beyond the summer after the latest success, 2-0 over Cologne on Friday night for the club's 150th victory in their 500th Bundesliga match.
"We had a similar situation before Christmas when we said: Those three games," he recalled.
"We will surely sit down again at the end of the season. And then it is about what the best roles in the club are," he said.
Baum coached Augsburg 2016-2019 in a first term and returned to the club last summer as head of development and football innovation, before taking the coaching role agin.
"I am simply happy to be here again, regardless in which role. I am enjoying this one a lot at the moment because we won again," he said.
Sporting director Benni Weber said: "We havent't reached our goals yet. We are not finished yet and are on our way. That's there will be talks at a given time, but certainly not know."
