2026 SEC men's basketball tournament bracket, schedule, how to watch: Florida is peaking at the right time entering Nashville

Florida is surging at just the right time.

Here’s everything you need to know entering the SEC tournament this weekend in Nashville.

Can Florida run it back?

Florida is back, right?

The Gators, after last year’s national championship win, struggled to start the season. They lost right out of the gate, and then ended up falling out of the national rankings completely by early January.

But now, this team feels like a completely different story. The Gators ended the season on an 11-game win streak, capped with an 84-77 win over Kentucky on Saturday. They’ve lost just twice since the turn of the new year, too, and ended the season with a 25-6 record and their first regular-season SEC title since 2014. They won it by three full games as the rest of the conference just sort of beat itself up.

Now, this isn’t to say that nobody else in the SEC can compete with Florida. Arkansas has looked solid at times, though Florida beat it by more than 30 points last month. Alabama won nine of its last 10 games to jump back up in the league standings and earn a double bye after a 23-point loss at Florida. And Vanderbilt, after a 16-0 start, leveled out a bit but still held its own in the SEC.

But all eyes this week in Nashville will be on the Gators, who suddenly look capable of winning back-to-back national titles again. As long as it doesn't slip early, Florida may actually end up with a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, which will only help in that quest.

That idea just a few months ago didn’t even seem possible.

2026 Big 12 men's basketball tournament bracket, schedule, how to watch: Arizona is far from a lock in Kansas City

TUCSON, ARIZONA - MARCH 02: Koa Peat #10 of the Arizona Wildcats cuts down the nets as he celebrates winning the Big 12 regular-season title following the NCAAB game Iowa State Cyclones at McKale Center at ALKEME Arena on March 02, 2026 in Tucson, Arizona. Of all the major conference tournaments this week, this one feels the most wide open.

Here’s everything you need to know entering the Big 12 tournament this weekend in Kansas City.

Who can end Arizona's run?

Look, there’s no denying that Arizona was great this season.

The Wildcats won the Big 12’s regular season title and went 29-2 this year while dominating plenty of teams in their path. They picked up several blowout wins late, too, including a 23-point win over Kansas and a 26-point win over Iowa State. But the Wildcats had to survive a crowded Big 12 to pull that feat off, and there are plenty of teams who can end their tournament run early this week in Kansas City.

Houston might be the best bet. The Cougars went 26-5 and have repeatedly looked capable of making another Final Four run under Kelvin Sampson — though they did just lose three straight ranked games before ending the year on a three-game win streak.

There are several teams who could make noise if everything goes right. Kansas is one of them, and it’s likely dependent on Darryn Peterson. The potential NBA lottery pick has been absent frequently this season, something that's been questionable at times, but the Jayhawks look like a top tier team when he’s at his best. Iowa State, despite losing three of its last five, has wins over both Kansas and Houston this season, too.

Oh, and don’t forget about AJ Dybantsa and BYU, too. Despite Richie Saudners’ ACL injury and their skid, the Cougars could easily pick up an upset win or two in Kansas City behind their possible No. 1 overall pick.

Sure, Arizona looks like a true No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. But the Big 12 tournament is not theirs by any means.

2026 Big East men's basketball tournament bracket, schedule, how to watch: St. John's, UConn look destined for rematch

The Big East tournament feels like a two-team race, which would make for a very entertaining championship game on Saturday night.

Here’s everything you need to know entering the Big East tournament this weekend in New York.

Are we destined for UConn-St. John’s?

Rick Pitino and St. John’s ran the Big East again, which seemed a bit surprising for a number of reasons. Not only did UConn largely dominate the conference for much of the season, but the Huskies also pulled out a brutal 32-point beatdown over the Red Storm late in the season. St. John’s just didn’t show up.

But the Huskies lost two of their past five games, both to unranked teams, while St. John’s won 16 of its past 17 games to surge ahead in the standings. The Red Storm, after a few bad losses to ranked teams early in the season, looked completely back to the level that many thought they would be this season.

There are a few others who could potentially make some noise. Villanova should make it into the NCAA tournament after a 24-7 finish. Seton Hall, while finishing in fourth after a 20-11 season, likely needs to make a big run in order to sneak in. It’s also hard to ever count Creighton or Marquette out for an upset win or two. But the Big East really comes down to just the two teams at the top.

Assuming all goes according to plan, expect a thrilling third rematch between the Huskies and the Red Storm come Saturday night.

Golfer Andrea Pavan discharged from hospital 1 week after falling down an elevator shaft in South Africa

Andrea Pavan is out of the hospital, just one week after the golfer suffered a freak accident and fell down three floors in an elevator shaft in South Africa.

Pavan shared on social media on Wednesday that he had been discharged from the hospital in South Africa. The 36-year-old will remain in the country for about five more weeks of rehabilitation before he’s able to travel back home to the United States.

“It truly feels like a miracle to be able to walk and start to do some basic activities, though at a very slow and careful pace,” he wrote, in part.

“Thank you to all of the friends, family, sponsors and people who reached out with messages and prayers and stepped in to help in all kinds of different ways. I am sorry I could not get back to all of you yet, but my heart is overwhelmed with love and joy. God has answered many prayers, it truly feels like His hand is on my recovery.”

Pavan was in South Africa for the DP World Tour’s Investec South African Open at Stellenbosch Golf Club last week. He called for the elevator at the building where he was staying on Feb. 25, but he didn’t realize that the elevator car was not there waiting for him when the doors opened. Pavan stepped into the elevator shaft and fell down three stories.

He was taken to the hospital, and underwent back and shoulder surgery. He suffered fractures to several vertebrae, too. A GoFundMe was set up for Pavan by one of his former Texas A&M teammates, too. As of Wednesday afternoon, it had raised more than $81,000.

Pavan, who was born in Italy, has won twice on the DP World Tour in his career and eight in total since he turned professional in 2010. The most notable came at the BMW International Open in Germany in 2019, when he beat Matt Fitzpatrick in a playoff. Pavan has made 13 starts on the PGA Tour and has played in three major championships, though he’s missed the cut in all three appearances. His last start was at the Qatar Masters in February, though he missed the cut there, too.

It’s unclear when Pavan will get back on the golf course again, though simply being able to walk after the incident last week is a major step.

Former Miami football player Rashaun Jones to be re-tried in May in murder case after mistrial

Former Miami Hurricanes defensive back Rashaun Jones has a new trial date.

Prosecutors will re-try Jones on second-degree murder charges on May 18, a judge decided on Wednesday, via ESPN. The decision came just days after a mistrial was declared due to a hung jury.

Judge Cristina Miranda reduced Jones’ bail in the case from $850,000 to $500,000 on Wednesday, too. Jones’ attorney had requested that it be lowered to $50,000, and said that he would still not be able to come up with the money needed for the reduced bond.

Jones is potentially facing life in prison if he is convicted. Miranda asked Jones if he was interested in a plea deal on Wednesday, though he again refused. He had already declined an offer of 15 years with time served.

Jones was arrested in 2021 over the death of his former Miami teammate Bryan Pata back in 2006. The two overlapped on the football team briefly, and Pata was killed months before the 2007 NFL Draft, where he was expected to be selected. Prosecutors said that Jones shot and killed Pata outside of his apartment on Nov. 7, 2006, after he returned home from practice. They tried to paint a picture of a feud between the two over a girlfriend during the original trial. A former Miami instructor, Paul Conner, identified Jones as the man he saw leaving the apartment complex after the killing, too.

But the defense poked holes in the instructor’s testimony during the original trial, both as it was dark out at the time and Conner wasn’t sure if he was wearing his glasses at the time. He also identified Jones seven months after the interaction.

The jury remained deadlocked after hours of deliberation, which led to the mistrial earlier this week. Only one juror, according to ESPN, actually wanted to convict Jones. The rest of the jury believed that the state failed to “meet the burden beyond reasonable doubt.”

Jones, who has maintained his innocence repeatedly, has been incarcerated since his arrest in 2021. As Jones is unable to come up with bond, he will likely remain there until the start of his new trial.

2026 Arnold Palmer Invitational purse, payouts: Scottie Scheffler leads loaded field again as PGA Tour hits Bay Hill

The PGA Tour's "off week" is behind us, and we've now got back-to-back signature events ahead of us.

A loaded field is at Bay Hill Club and Lodge this week in Orlando for the annual Arnold Palmer Invitational. Top-ranked Scottie Scheffler leads the way, and is once again a massive +350 favorite to win on BetMGM. Scheffler hasn't played since his T12 finish at the Genesis Invitational last month, where he had to make the weekend on the number to keep his cut streak alive. That was his worst finish all season.

Every golfer inside the top 10 in the Official World Golf Rankings is in the field this week, including Rory McIlroy. He played his way into the final group at the Genesis Invitational, but couldn't quite catch up to eventual winner Jacob Bridgeman. Justin Thomas is also back on Tour. He'll make his first start since he underwent back surgery after the Ryder Cup last fall.

Shane Lowry will return, too, and will tee off alongside Xander Schauffele in the first two rounds. Lowry blew a three-shot lead down the stretch on Sunday in a stunning collapse at last week's Cognizant Classic, which opened the door for Nico Echavarria to grab the win instead.

The event carries a $20 million purse, with $4 million going to the winner on Sunday afternoon. It's the final event before The Players Championship next week, which is the Tour's marquee event on its schedule.

The Tour will also play the Puerto Rico Open this week at Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico as an alternate event. That tournament carries a $4 million purse, and will offer the winner 300 FedExCup points.

Here's everything you need to keep up with the action at Bay Hill this week.

2026 ACC women's basketball tournament bracket, schedule, how to watch: Duke holds No. 1 seed as Louisville, UNC loom

Conference Tournament Previews:SEC | Big East | Big Ten | Big 12

The top of the ACC stumbled a bit in the final few games, but the tournament this week is completely up for grabs. Duke, despite holding the top seed after securing the regular season title, is by no means a lock.

Here’s everything you need to know heading into the ACC women’s basketball tournament this week.

Duke holds narrow lead over the field

Despite a rough non-conference run last fall, and a pair of bad losses late, Duke was the best team in the ACC this season. The Blue Devils went 21-8 on the year to win the league title, despite losing at unranked Clemson by two points last month and then at North Carolina in the final game of the season.

But the ACC tournament is far from a lock for the Blue Devils. North Carolina went 14-4 in league play and won 12 of its last 13 games to end the year. Louisville finished in second in the conference with a pair of bad unranked losses to end the year, too. They nearly knocked off Duke last month, but couldn’t finish the game out after leading in the fourth quarter.

Oh, and while they went just 20-9 and are entering the postseason unranked, Hannah Hidalgo and Notre Dame shouldn’t be counted out. Hidalgo averaged 25.2 points — which is the third-best output nationally behind only Vanderbilt’s Mikayla Blakes and Iowa State’s Audi Crooks — and 6.3 rebounds this season. She dropped 30 points to lead the Fighting Irish past Louisville on Sunday to cap a five-game win streak.

Duke has the advantage of the double bye and the top seed, but the ACC tournament should be incredibly competitive this weekend outside of Atlanta.

2026 Big 12 women's basketball tournament bracket, schedule, how to watch: TCU is the team to beat again in Kansas City

TCU has been on a roll in the new era of Big 12 basketball, but the title this week in Kansas City is truly anybody’s to grab.

Here’s everything you need to know heading into the Big 12 women’s basketball tournament this week.

TCU wins the Big 12, again

TCU ran through the Big 12 slate once again this year. The Horned Frogs picked up a second straight regular season title after going 27-4 on the season and 15-3 in league play. Olivia Miles led the way with 20.1 points, the third-best output in the Big 12, and 6.9 rebounds per game. Though TCU has won in back-to-back years now, and won the tournament last season, this year’s event in Kansas City looks far from straightforward.

West Virginia earned the No. 2 seed after narrow losses to TCU this season, one of which came on a buzzer-beater back in mid-January. The Mountaineers ended the season with a 58-point beatdown over Cincinnati, too. Baylor isn’t far behind, though the Bears fell to TCU by double digits in the final game of the regular season.

And while they missed out on the double-bye, don’t count Audi Crooks and Iowa State out. The Cyclones, after starting the season on a 14-game win streak, are more than capable of making a decent run in the tournament behind Crooks — who has averaged 25.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this season. Only Vanderbilt's Mikayla Blakes is averaging more points per contest in the entire country. Crooks is coming off a 41-point double-double in their regular season finale, too, which marked her fourth 40-point outing all year.

While the conference is undoubtedly down nationally — TCU is projected to be a No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament by ESPN in the highest outing for any Big 12 team entering the postseason — the Big 12 tournament should be very entertaining.

The Eagles parted with Bernabei-McNamee on Sunday night, ending her eight-season run with the program after their final game of the regular season. Bernabei-McNamee’s contract was up after this season, and the school is opting not to extend it.

"I want to thank Joanna for her contributions to the Boston College Women's Basketball program during her eight years as an Eagle, as she had a tremendous impact on so many young women who have gone on to do great things,” athletic director Blake James said in a statement. “It is simply time for a change and we wish Joanna and her family the very best in the future."

Bernabei-McNamee took over at Boston College in 2018, though she only managed to compile two winning seasons and never made the NCAA tournament during her tenure. The Eagles went just 5-26 this season and ended the campaign with just a single win since Thanksgiving. That lone win, a 77-59 win over SMU on Feb. 19, snapped a 20-game losing streak.

They finished last in the ACC standings after going just 1-17 in league play. As a result, they did not qualify for the ACC tournament.

Bernabei-McNamee finished with a 113-132 record and went 43-94 in ACC play.

"We take great pride in the variety of sports we sponsor, including our women's teams, and we have a lot already in place to attract a strong candidate pool," James said in a statement. "Our practice facility is top-notch, our fans and supporters are thirsty for success and we compete in one of the best women's basketball conferences in America — the ACC. I am excited to find the right person who can elevate our program and who shares in our values."

Whoever James hires to replace Bernabei-McNamee will be tasked with turning the program around. The Eagles haven’t been to the NCAA tournament since 2006, and haven’t been nationally ranked since the 2010-11 campaign.

Chad Baker-Mazara leaves USC in final week as Trojans try to snap losing skid, make NCAA tournament push

Chad Baker-Mazara’s time with USC is now over.

The Trojans announced on Sunday afternoon that Baker-Mazara was no longer with the program, marking a stunning development for the program as it enters the final stretch of the regular season and the Big Ten tournament.

Further specifics on his departure are not yet known.

Baker-Mazara transferred into USC this season. The former Auburn star has averaged 18.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game this season with the Trojans, all of which have been career highs. He's USC's leading scorer, and was the Maui Invitational MVP back in November after leading the Trojans to a win in that marquee tournament in Hawaii.

Baker-Mazara played just 19 minutes in the team's 82-67 loss to No. 12 Nebraska on Saturday. He went down with an apparent leg injury early in the second half, and did not return.

USC has two games left in the regular season, first at Washington and then against UCLA on Saturday. The Trojans have lost five straight and sit at 18-11 on the year, and have significant work to do in order to make it into the NCAA tournament.

While a strong finish this week and a run in the Big Ten tournament could have helped significantly there, the Trojans will now have to find a way to do that without Baker-Mazara around.

This post will be updated with more information shortly.
