Will Klein Carving Out a Bigger Role After World Series Heroics
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Will Klein made himself a hero during the World Series, and isn’t slowing down for LA in 2026.
Klein has made two appearances so far, striking out two batters without allowing a run. He made 14 appearances for the Dodgers last season, posting a 2.35 ERA and striking out 21 batters.
His biggest moment, though, came in the postseason. Klein made two World Series appearances, one of which lasted four innings during the Dodgers’ marathon win in Game 3. The win proved to be incredibly important, as the Dodgers took the series to seven games and eventually won.
Despite the magnitude of that moment, though, Klein isn’t worried about failing to live up to the hype surrounding him.
“You see other people have big moments in national championship games, Super Bowls and you’re like, ‘That’s fun to watch,’” Klein said. “So to have that moment for myself and to hear it from fans and family, it reminds you of the stuff you grew up watching.”
“…When I started this year, I was worried about living up to the four innings. But I was like, ‘That’s just who I am as a pitcher. I don’t have to live up to anything because I did that.’ That’s what I will try to do every day, even if it’s one inning or one out.
“Don’t let that moment get bigger than it is. I was the one that did that and I can go out and do it again.”
Klein has impressed manager Dave Roberts in the young season, with the skipper saying he’s gaining more trust.
“He’s trending in the right direction,” Roberts said. “You attack, you throw strikes, you can get left and right out, you can change speeds with the curveball, you can throw close to 100 (mph), that’s an uncomfortable at-bat. So for me, he’s getting right there on that trust tree.”
When did Will Klein Join the Dodgers?
The Seattle Mariners designated Klein for assignment in May 2025, and the Dodgers traded for him just a few days later. Klein began his time in the organization in Triple-A, but made his way up to the bigs in June 2025.
He spent the remainder of the season bouncing between Triple-A and MLB, but managed to be with the MLB team at the end of the season. He squeaked onto the World Series roster after left-hander Alex Vesia withdrew, and the rest is history.
Klein will look to play a huge part in the Dodgers’ season as they chase the National League’s first three-peat. His next chance to impress comes when the Dodgers face the Cleveland Guardians Monday at 7:10 p.m. PT.
