Nuñez’s agent visits Juventus amid fresh Lukaku links

Tuttosport reports that one of Darwin Núñez’s agents visited the Uruguay international during a training session at Juventus’s training ground in Turin, as the Bianconeri continue to monitor several centre-forwards, including Romelu Lukaku.

Juventus are currently in talks to extend Dusan Vlahovic’s contract, but they are determined to sign a centre-forward in the summer regardless of the Serbian’s future in Turin.

The club is open to listening to offers for Lois Openda and Jonathan David and has begun monitoring several forwards across Europe and beyond.

One of them is ex-Liverpool star Nunez, currently at Al-Hilal. The 26-year-old trained with the Uruguay national team in Turin on Monday ahead of tonight’s international friendly against Algeria at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

According to Tuttosport, Nunez was visited on Monday by Tommaso Inzaghi, son of his coach Simone, and the right-hand man of Federico Pastorello, the striker’s main agent.

Nunez is a potential target for Juventus and had already been in talks with the Bianconeri last summer before a €53m move to Al-Hilal.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus’ favourite option for the attack remains Randal Kolo Muani, but the Serie A giants have also been tracking other strikers such as Mateo Retegui, Joshua Zirkzee and Romelu Lukaku, who is expected to be frozen out at Napoli after failing to return from Belgium during the international break.

Official: Napoli prepared to take ‘disciplinary’ action against Lukaku

Napoli confirm Romelu Lukaku did not show up for a training session on Tuesday, so the club will take ‘appropriate disciplinary’ action, including possibly freezing him out of the first team.

Napoli are prepared to take disciplinary action against their striker Lukaku, the club confirmed in a statement on Tuesday.

Lukaku pulled out of the Belgium national team last week due to poor fitness, but remained in Belgium to train individually rather than return to Naples.

Official Napoli statement on Lukaku

“Napoli announce that Romelu Lukaku did not respond to today’s call-up ahead of the resumption of training,” Napoli said.

“The club reserves the right to evaluate the adoption of appropriate disciplinary measures as well as the continuation of the player’s participation in the team on an indefinite basis.”

Previous reports claimed that Napoli would freeze Lukaku out of the team if he had failed to return by today.

As Sky Sport suggests, however, the Napoli statement means the club’s response could be even stronger as the Partenopei lawyers are currently examining the case.

Depending on the agreement between Napoli and Lukaku, the club could even consider terminating the contract, but all possible scenarios are now being scrutinised.

Napoli expected to freeze Lukaku out as striker remains in Belgium

Romelu Lukaku has not returned to Naples from Belgium, so Napoli will reportedly freeze the striker out.

Belgium international Lukaku is expected to be frozen out of the Napoli squad after failing to return from Antwerp to resume training with his club.

Napoli to take action as Lukaku fails to return

Lukaku was already due to return last week, but he decided to remain in Belgium to train individually after pulling out of the Belgium squad due to poor fitness.

The striker irritated Napoli, who, according to several media outlets, threatened to leave him out of the first-team squad if he failed to return by today.

Having failed to return to the training centre for this morning’s training session, the Partenopei are now expected to take action and effectively freeze him out of the team, reports Sky Sport Italia.

Lukaku spoke about the incident for the first time on Monday in a social media post, but he didn’t mention his possible return.

“There’s nothing more I would love to do than play and win for my team,” he wrote.

“But right now I have to make sure I am clinically 100% cause I haven’t been recently, and it took a toll mentally.”

Report Lukaku not happy with Napoli medical staff

Napoli are prepared to freeze Romelu Lukaku out after he refused to return from Belgium, as it’s reported both he and Kevin De Bruyne disagree with the club’s medical staff.

The situation is at an impasse, as when Lukaku returned to Belgium for international duty and was told he wasn’t fully fit, he decided to remain there rather than come straight back to Italy.

This infuriated Napoli, who threatened to freeze him out if he was not back by the deadline.

He released a statement on social media, but that does not seem to have made much difference to the Partenopei.

Now Belgian media point out the concern with the Napoli medical staff is shared by both Lukaku and De Bruyne.

“Romelu and I followed a similar path after our injuries. I did a full rehabilitation [in Belgium], Romelu partially in Antwerp and partially in Naples,” commented De Bruyne.

“When there are two different views, it’s hard to work together. There have been differences, and this is not ideal if you aim to get back in shape.”

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Lukaku rushed his return in November because Napoli were struggling with an injury crisis, disobeyed the instructions given to him by his medical team in Antwerp, and suffered an immediate relapse.

It certainly wouldn’t be the first time that Napoli’s medical staff caused controversy, as they have had an epic run of serious setbacks that left Antonio Conte with a decimated squad this season.

This is why Lukaku would prefer to work with Lieven Maesschalck and Bert Driesen, physiotherapists they first met through the Belgium national team.

He is now determined to remain in Belgium until at least the end of this week, so it remains to be seen how Napoli will respond.
