FIFA experiences lengthy wait times, misdirected links during World Cup ticket sales

FIFA faced technical issues during the rollout of World Cup ticket sales on Wednesday, according to the AP. This marked the fifth time tickets were available for the tournament, and the first since February, following the finalization of the 48-team lineup on Tuesday.

Some customers experienced wait times reaching up to 90 minutes and were frequently directed to website sections that featured sales for teams recently qualified for the World Cup when accessing last-minute sales phases. FIFA reportedly has not explained the long wait times or the misdirected links.

Fans who missed out on tickets will have additional opportunities to buy, as more tickets will be released gradually. It is unclear which matches or price categories will be available during these releases.

Previously, World Cup tickets ranged from $140 to $8,680, but due to complaints, a limited number of $60 tickets were made accessible to loyal fans. FIFA also operates a resale market, allowing fans who bought tickets for eliminated teams to sell them.

The tournament is expected to attract many viewers this summer, with 104 matches scheduled across the U.S., Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19. The U.S. team is in Group D with Australia, Paragua and Turkey.

Browns QB Shedeur Sanders changing jersey to No. 2 next season after wearing No. 15 in rookie year

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders will be going back to his roots next season. The Browns announced Sanders will wear No. 2 for the 2026 season. Sanders wore No. 2 dating back to his days at the University of Colorado, Jackson State and Trinity Christian High School in Texas.

Sanders wore No. 15 during his rookie season, with former Browns wide receiver DeAndre Carter previously wearing No. 2. With Carter no longer on the team, Sanders was able to make the switch to the number, which was worn by wide receiver Amari Cooper and former quarterbacks Johnny Manziel, Tim Couch and Bailey Zappe.

Sanders made the announcement official with an Instagram post wearing No. 2 in a Browns jersey, captioned, “Thank you GOD” and “legendary.” Sanders’ father and University of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders also posted an Instagram picture of his son wearing his new jersey, with Shedeur’s song “Perfect Timing” and the caption, “Yes Lawd! #2 is who he is, now let the church shout Amen!”

Sanders’ number change could be an attempt to give him a fresh start after an up-and-down rookie season with the Browns. He was able to rise up the Browns’ quarterback depth chart after being drafted in the fifth round and took over as the starter in Week 12 after the team traded Joe Flacco early in the season and a Dillon Gabriel concussion opened the door for Sanders.

After winning his starting debut against the Las Vegas Raiders, Sanders went on to lose his next three games before helping the team upset its AFC North division rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Despite throwing for 1,400 yards, 7 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and going 3-4 as the Browns’ starter, his season was enough to earn a Pro Bowl selection in his first year. This offseason, Sanders is expected to compete with Deshaun Watson and Gabriel to become the Browns’ starting quarterback.

New Browns head coach Todd Monken has been vocal about not naming Sanders the starter but has expressed his admiration for the young quarterback, saying he wanted to draft him when he was coaching in Baltimore.
