After nearly 20 years in the NBA, former Texas men's basketball player PJ Tucker announced his retirement Thursday, via Instagram.

His professional career includes playing on eight NBA teams, winning a national title with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021 and also playing for a few teams overseas. He finished his playing career averaging 6.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 42.5% field goal shooting. 

"20 years being my job but 40 plus years of not being able to fathom doing anything other than it," Tucker wrote. 

Tucker played for Texas from 2003-06 and helped the Longhorns to an Elite Eight appearance in the 2006 NCAA Tournament. He was taken 35th overall in the second round of the 2006 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors. Other Longhorns drafted that night included LaMarcus Aldridge by Chicago and Daniel Gibson by Cleveland. The former Longhorn was the 2006 Big 12 Player of the Year and a second team All-American. 

In 2020, Tucker was inducted into the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor.
