Samsung refrigerators in the US get AI Vision with Gemini, new Bixby and Now Brief
Samsung is giving its Bespoke AI refrigerators in the US a meaningful software lift, adding features like AI Vision with Googleβs Gemini, more capable Bixby and Now Brief.
Starting May 11, select Family Hub models are receiving a major update that folds in smarter AI Vision recognition powered by Gemini, a more conversational Bixby experience, and a broader Now Brief personalization layer.
AI Vision, new Bixby, Now Brief and more
Samsung says the upgraded AI Vision system can now recognize far more grocery items than before. New cloud-based intelligence and OCR support allow the fridge to identify branded products by reading packaging labels.
Samsung is also leaning harder into predictive grocery tracking. The refrigerator can monitor frequently used items and nudge users when supplies are likely running low.
Bixby is also getting a long overdue overhaul. Instead of rigid voice commands, Samsung wants interactions to feel more conversational.
- Users can simply ask for βround ice for my drink,β and Bixby will activate Sphere Ice mode automatically.
- The assistant is shown setting a cooling routine based on outdoor temperatures after a back-and-forth conversation.
The Now Brief is becoming more personalized, too. The refrigerator display can now surface recipe videos, ingredient-based meal suggestions, and cooking recommendations generated from foods already inside the fridge.
Samsung is also expanding Voice ID support, allowing Family Hub to recognize individual household members and show personalized reminders, calendars, health summaries, and even interest-based news.
Availability and expansion
The rollout starts in the US today for supported Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerators. Samsung says the update will expand to 9-inch AI Home displays and more global markets gradually through 2026.
