Travis Kelce Can Barely Hold His Excitement Over Chiefs Development
Travis Kelce has spent his entire NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs. He agreed to a one-year, $12 million deal on March 9 to return for his 14th season despite speculation that he would retire.
The tight end has played with and for some of the best in the game, including coaches and trainers. They have helped him achieve the success he’s had in the league. One of them is Eric Bienemy, who previously served as the Chiefs’ running backs coach from 2013 to 2017. The team elevated him to offensive coordinator in 2018, and he held the role until the 2022 campaign.
Kelce and Bienemy won two Super Bowls together and forged a strong bond on and off the field. The 11-time Pro Bowler is hungry for more success and looking to help lead Kansas City back to the top next season.
Travis Kelce Expresses Thrill for Eric Bienemy’s Return
Bienemy left the Chiefs in 2023 to join the Washington Commanders as their assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. He then moved on to UCLA the following year. In 2025, he served as the Chicago Bears’ running backs coach. However, the 56-year-old decided to return to the Chiefs for next season, reuniting with Kelce, Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid.
During Wednesday’s episode of his “New Heights” podcast, Kelce couldn’t contain his excitement about the development.
“E.B. back in the building,” Kelce said. “Sometimes a guy comes around and then you just know you’re done f****** around. I think Coach Reid is one of those guys, but even to another degree, the accountability that Eric Bienemy holds is second to none, man.
“… It’s good to have my guy back in the building, man. F***, I can’t wait till he mother***** me, man. … I’m like, ‘E.B. it’s me, your boy. Come on baby, it’s me. My name’s Travis, not mother******.”
The franchise aims to bounce back strong and return to Super Bowl contention after missing the playoffs last year. Mahomes will reportedly return for the season opener, and with Bienemy running the offense and Kelce ready to perform, the sky’s the limit for Kansas City.
